SANTO DOMINGO. - A container the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) loaded with drinking water, which was stolen by a group of thieves who then tried to sell it in the market, was intercepted by Army Intelligence, which recovered it and arrested one suspect in the case.

The container, rented from `JJ Trailer Express' containing 1,800 crates of bottled water, was found in the community El Abanico, in Constanza (Central).

The container, part of the donations headed to Port-au-Prince, was heisted by the group headed by a woman identified as Cristina Guzmán, who is being interrogated in the Police Grand Theft Division.

Stealing aid for Haiti at this time? If I was the judge this would be an easy fix.

Hung by the neck until dead.

I agree Veronica but then the RD justice system would create a deterrent to crime if justice was served. But we know that in fact there is minimum deterrent because the criminal elements are out of control.

It's unbelievable!

I saw with my own eyes a guy with Venezuelan military garb sell a case of vegetable oil, not a local brand, to a restaurant owner in Barahona.

I don't know what % is looted, but aid is not only for the Haitians.

He should have pled guilty in late 2009 to be pardoned by Xmas.

Now he'll have to serve one year in a private clinic before the absolution.

I think it was a Dominicana! Come on you think these guy's aren't thinking about making some green with all these percieved rich foreigners around. A lot of people are just thinking about how to scam the system already. It's sad because many of them will steal the stuff, try to sell it but won't be able to and then since they won't be able to return it, (duh) they will let it, either sit in their backyard or just dump it somewhere it'll do no good for the people it was intended to.
They should do an amnesty, to' el q'robo y no pudo vender lo que se llevo venga devuelvalo y le damos la gracias por ser pariguayo.

The people with the highest and finest ethics in the region are of course the Cubans.

The people with lowest and rotten ethics are, of course, US reactionaries, one-third of the US people.

US reactionaries are the least trustworthy and the most degenerate people in the world.

Aid should never be put in their hands.

According to AP link repeatedly posted on DT board, less than 1% of the aid that goes through US hands gets to the Haitian Government.

[If you don't believe me, read this http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/ ]

So far, about 95% of the aid that goes through DR hands gets to the Haitian Government and people. This is why international aid donors prefer sending aid thur the DR than thur US imperialist-controlled airports and seaports in Haiti.

Pro-imperialist swine want the aid to continue thur US imperial hands so that only 1% of the aid gets to the Haitians and 99% is sold by US bourgeois trash on the world market.

oooo

Etiennc01,

If I understand your post, you sold your soul to US imperialists for a "steak with french fries and a large pepsi."

Etiennc01, you got the better part of the deal because your soul isn't even worth a small pepsi.

"Jurassic Park" and "obsolete," Etiennc01 shouts.

Capitalism is older than socialism, for capitalism appeared in the middle of 15th centrury while socialism appeared in the ealrly 19th century. Capitalism is the dinasuar. Capitalism dominates today almost all of the world. But 80% of the people of the world live in extreme poverty, surviving off of less than one dollar per day. Capitalism failed humanity.

Past losses or past wins are not necessarily permanent.

"Socialism and Communism ... are dead," Etiennc01 shouts.

Capitalism is rotten, utterly de-composed. It produces filth and decadence. Capitalism is the most putrid social system that has ever existed. It steals aid from starving and sick people.

This theft episode is not the first and will definitely will not be the last of criminal elements taking advantage of the tragedy in Haiti for their gain. These people when caught and convicted should suffer part of their penalty doing community work in the worst of the Haitian barrios while wearing prison clothing identifying them as theives of the damned.

The point is it is not the Haitians who are stealing food and medicine from US imperialism, rather it is the official slaves and servants of US imperialism who are stealing aid from the Haitians.

Try this test a see if you are not going to get dizzy
First read what CNN and the major newspapers stated, then read what belialbrugal states

CNN & all : The medics and the crew of the hospital ship the USNS COMFORT are providing medical help to Haitians.
More that 180 Haitians were admitted to the floating IMPERIALIST hospital

belialbrugal : The imperialist medics are using medicine they stole from Haitians to treat Haitians.

See, you get dizzy !

oooo

Etiennoco1,

That's less than 1% of the international aid that passes thur US imperialist hands.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/

Etiennoc01, you have admittedt that you are cheap because earlier in this thread you conceded that US imperialists purchased you for a juicy steak, french fies, and a large pepsi. You offered to arrange the same deal for me.

I respectfully declined.

Thus, you can't understand why the Haitians are disgruntled over getting only 1% of the aid that passes thur US hands, because 1% seems like a whole lot or like a juicy steak to you.

@Belial:

Over 51 cents of each dollar goes for disaster assistance (42 cents) and FOOD for survivors (9 cents). The Haitian government (not known for its integrity) gets one penny of each dollar, that they can use as they see fit.

But the PEOPLE come first. Your post is misleading, to say the least, as part of the rest of each U.S. dollar goes to transporting the food and supplies, etc. and other important things. You are incorrect in your assumption, my friend.

Misshati,

(PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti) —TIME "The aid flooding into Haiti by plane and boat is not reaching earthquake victims quickly enough to stem growing unrest because of transportation bottlenecks and isolated violence. "

"Many foreign aid workers and Haitians say ample donations are arriving, but express frustration at the slow pace of distribution of food and medicine from Port-au-Prince's port, airport and a warehouse in its sprawling Cite-Soleil slum." TIME, among other outlets of bourgeois media, reports. http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1958704,00.html#ixzz0egqhxNUU

The Port au Prince port, airport, and Cite-soleil warehouse are all under the control of imperialist troops although some Haitians are employees under the US troops.

Lovers of imperialism are fond of discussing the corruption by DRs as if it were an inescapable law of nature. But when these lovers of imperialism encounter corruption by USAs on a larger scale than that of the DRs, the imperial slaves can't believe what they face. The imperial lovers feign incredulity and utter disbelief.

International aid to Haiti must remain even after the news of the earthquake stop hitting the headlines, said Dominican Vice President Rafael Albuquerque.

Albuquerque announced that he would travel to the Haiti on Saturday to supervise Dominican assistance and cooperation.

When news about Haiti stop making the headlines, the international community should redouble its aid, because it can not forget that there is a country suffering, he underlined.

The Vice President plans to meet President Rene Preval and Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive.

Albuquerque is right because the international bourgeois media is getting ready to drop Haiti as a big story. Once the bourgeois media drops a story, imperialist slaves immediately lose interest in the story.

Haiti had a fairly large fishing industry before the earthquake. But the quake demolish a huge number of fishing boats. If the aid donors and friends can get the fishing industry going again, this would really help.
