Santo Domingo.- The Presidency’s Adviser on drugs yesterday affirmed that politicians’ influence prevented including the two Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) colonels under investigation in connection to the case of the fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto, in the wake of the gangland murder of Police colonel Jose Amado González, “because there’s fear they would talk if taken to trial.”

Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) also asked president Leonel Fernandez not to waver in the investigation and to not let public opinion or comments by officials influence him on any changes on 27 de Febrero, which may affect  the heads of the Police and of the DNCD which participate in the case with the Justice Ministry.

“We need to get to the bottom of this and nobody who’s involved in that dangerous drug trafficking structure can be excluded,” Castillo said.

He also criticized that while the civilians who dealt with Figueroa’s vehicles or properties are being sent to jail, the colonels he says are implicated aren’t behind bars.

The official affirmed that murders of González and Ramon Omar Antigua, Figueroa’s alleged accomplice, were committed not only because of mistakes they might have made within the ring, but to frighten and send the others the message that “if you talk they’ll kill you.”

“That means that Figueroa’s structure remains intact and that he continues being protected by the same officials, the police and military chiefs who supported him from the beginning,” he said.

He said there are indications linking the colonels Miguel Sanchez Martinez, DNCD operations chief, and Manuel Diaz Medina, it’s commander in La Romana Airport (east) to González’s murder, because Sanchez spoke with him a half hour before the crime and the second came from La Romana to get a computer and other items from the victim’s apartment without his superiors’ authority.

Interviewed Monday in the program Hoy Mismo, Castillo said Figueroa’s underworld structure has operated for 9 years with the support of various sectors, and again mentioned former U.S. ambassador Hans Hertell as “possibly” having information in the case. “It’s amazing that Figueroa ran around for nine years under the very noses of U.S. intelligence, while the American ambassador was moving around in the same social circles as the Puerto Rican (Figueroa).”

Why then if it is "affirmed" that influencial politicians shield the fugitive that they are not named? The key word being "affirmed".

When the president of DR is going to open his big mouth and said something about the drugs problem in the country?

Do the big fish is paying for his political ascending to power?

How much the DEA knows about all the Bull Shit going on in DR ?

Are they just giving fishing line to all this fishes until they get the whole net together and them pull ?

To small country for that big amount of business and crime. We are going in the same path of Mexico.

Is that PR smarter than the dominican government and the military ?

Or money talks and bull shit walks.

Last time he opened his mouth, it was to announce the nomination of Vincho "Mouthpiece" Castillo as his personal adviser.

The mouthpiece does all the talk now.

question? why is it that the info that vincho says is BS? not sure I understand really??? He seems to be implicating some government people and making some strong accusations about top people who would possibly not be too happy about that. So he's not making too many friend here. But then again, I suppose if he is just throwing names out there as a decoy then maybe but I don't understand the whole vincho plot so if anyone has info let me know.

You know what it really strange about all this? This guy they are looking for is a Puerto Rican national which means he is a U.S. citizen, right???? How in the world you explain a U.S. citizen escapes from a prison in U.S. territory "Puerto Rico" goes to another country "Dominican Rep," without one thing being reported in U.S. newspapers??? I mean the United States goes and pulls out Noriega in Panama, kills Saddam in Iraq, has 100's of ex-narco's from Colombia and Mexico sent to face trial and sent to prison in the U.S. but can't find this guy, no news being reported and no interest from the U.S.????? Not even a report on the T.V. show "America's Most Wanted" to find the narco? Sounds like a big cover-up to me by some very powerful people in gov't from both countries D.R. and U.S.. It astounds me because if the U.S. really wanted to get involved or find and arrest this guy then they would just like the bigger fish they have recently brought over from Colombia and Mexico. Just my .02
