SANTO DOMINGO.- The authorities’ deep suspicion that the fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto is or was until recently in Dominican Republic is based on his phone calls to Eddy Brito, as he confessed in December, and that the call received in the Z-101 Radio station came from a phone number registered to a recognized television production company in Santo Domingo.
Under interrogation Brito confessed that while on the outside he was taken to a place under the premise he would meet with someone interested in buying one of his vehicles.
Once there a person apparently Puerto Rican approached him from behind and handed him a phone, indicating m that somebody wanted to speak with him.
Brito revealed that the person on the line was Figueroa, who told him from that from where he was he knew what each of them did and said.
It was in the middle of that conversation when a subtle threat against the late ex colonel Jose Amado González and another person he blamed for exposing him to keep the 4.6 million dollars which were seized inside the armored Mercedes Benz vehicle when the authorities tried to trap him.
At first Brito, husband of the also fugitive and Figueroa’s paramour Sobeida Felix, had only to periodically go to the Office of the Prosecutor and post bond.
Brito’s revelations came during questioning into González’s gangland murder in front of his residence on December 24. The slain officer, who was Figueroa’s main confidant, was to be interrogated two days after his murder.
