Santo Domingo. - A 4.1 magnitude tremor was felt at 2:20 a.m. Thursday in Dominican territory, with the epicenter located to 10 kilometers deep, 15 kilometers from Montecristi (northwest) and 225 from Santo Domingo, the United States Geodetic Survey (USGS) reported.

Inhabitants of Montecristi and adjacent zones including Santiago felt the tremor, butt there no reports of damages or injuries.

Montecristi is the westernmost town in a major and active fault line across Dominican Republic’s Atlantic coast, where occasional tremors have caused damages to structures.

the only thing coming to DR in 2012 that can be compared to an earthquake is another PRD government, this time with mike at the helm.

It just might be significant, but maybe not.

The fault line running along the North of Hispaniola from Aamana to Monticristi hasn't moved significantly since the 1200's. The pressure has been building for a huge slip along the entire fault zone since then. Interestingly, the fault abutts the northern city limits of Santiago.
Just might be that it is about to let go with a whopper.
I don't put much faith in the geologists of the DR to adequately predict such an event. There are no sensors in place to properly analyze the degree of pressure build-up, thus allowing for an educated(?) guess as to when the seismic event will take place.
STAY ON THE GROUND FLOORS NEAR THE DOORS.

Giant asteroid smashed into the Gulf of Mexico and killed all living things including the dinosaurs.
And you worry about an earthquake.
Don't be so fatalistic.
If it happens, it happens.

Miss Haiti ''Jesus is coming soon ''
Too bad that the scientific minds erase the predictions and prophecies of our Lord Jesus with remarks such as '' earthquakes have been happening for years but now we have better technology to monitor them '' ..
True, but the reality is that no one needs a sensoring device when the earth starts to dance to the beat of a 7.1 tremor..More significant is that Jesus said that these earthquakes would increase in frequency and occur in diverse places not usually prone to quakes.Talk about spiritual blindness ! Does everyone realize that quakes are now as common as thundershowers and are affecting every part of the globe in ways like never before. Its very sobering and humbling. In this part of the world we are accustomed to these event happening in the remote regions of the western parts of the world with the exception of California, but now its like a fuse box thats gone out of control and every day it seems the earth is shaking on a different corner.
