SANTO DOMINGO. - The current Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Universe Pageant’s first runner-up has been tapped by the opposition PRD party as its candidate for vice mayor of the city Santo Domingo North.
Ada Aimée de la Cruz accepted the candidacy today during a political rally in the Hotel Embajador, headed by PRD president Miguel Vargas.
A local reporter summed up the beauty queen’s rise to stardom from humble roots when she won the local pageant, affirming that De la Cruz “arrived from Villa Mella in a tattered taxi and returned home in a Mercedes Limo.”
