The (openly) richest general, Admiral Julio C. Ventura Bayonet, second from right.
Santio Domingo.- Police Chief Rafael Guzmán is worth RD$35.3 million (nearly US$1.0 million), according to his financial statement of March, 16, 2010, while other generals also disclosed surprisingly tidy nest eggs.
Guzman’s wealth is centered in real estate, holdings easily surpassed by ex Navy Chief of staff Julio Cesar Ventura Bayonet, who filed documents which reveal his worth at RD$77.2 million (US$2.0 million) in October 15, 2008.
Drugs Control Agency chief Rolando Rosado declared assets of around 14 million pesos in March 9, 2010; prisons director Manuel de Jesus Perez said he was worth 20.5 million pesos on October 9, 2008, while current Navy Chief of staff Homero Luis Lajara filed for RD$19.9 million on March 4, 2009.
Also declaring notable sums were the heads of the National Investigations Department (DNI) director Ramon Aquino, of RD#21.7 million, 267 pesos in February; of Immigration, Sigfrido Pared, RD$11.2 million in March 2009; of the Border Development Agency Manuel de Jesus Florentino, around RD$30 million in December, 2008, whereas the ex director of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Rafael Bencosme Candelier filed around RD$22 million in November, 2008.
In a February 27 speech president Leonel Fernandez ordered the heads of security and law enforcement agencies to file their financial statements within 15 days, to contribute to the cleanup in those entities and to detect unexplainable wealth amid denunciations of widespread corruption in those organisms and their being penetrated by international drug trafficking and money laundering.

one way or the other, if this doesn't get cleaned up today this at the very least opens the doors for it to be done in the future. Now that this is placed as an official doctrine it paves the way for someone who has his pants tighten up the right way to come in and clean up this free for all. It can be said that although leonel F has not done much to enforce justice in terms of corruption, that at least he is is inexplicably laying down the blueprints for someone else to do so. That's if, and only if, DR ever gets a worthy person to rule the country.

And now for all the other institutional heads. Tax man will be happy. Hope they extend the search down and seek out the small fortunes of the middle enablers. Would love to see how much the head of the electrical or energy sector has in his nest-egg. All this stems, in part, because of the poor educational levels found in DR. I remember reading how the US government tried post 1966 to get Balaguer to tax the wealthier class and rise tax revenues in general to support universal education in DR. Balaguer and his administration stalled and made excuses after excuses, and DR has paid the price ever since.

Do NOT call this a nest-egg. It is money laundering. Period.

Ok, now that we got this information-what do we do with it?
Should there not be an inquisition in order to justify legality of worth?
Should we not look back at paid income taxes?
Level of amassed wealth concerns me greatly, as it is absolutely incommensurate with legal income. Hope US is paying close attention and immediately proceeds to revoke visas.
This is all so ludicrous...I know many people here in US making several times those indicated salaries and their net worth is not anywhere near that of the admiral's or the police chief's.
LF must have had plan when he requested this information, let's watch closely what he does with it, particularly with upcoming elections.
A nation which, with full understanding of such transgressions, stands idly on side and continues to elect corrupt officials is clearly deserving of its fate.

Most of these military officers lack proper, relevant education, a fact that makes it most improbable for them to have achieved such monumental returns on their investments.
With such demonstrated capacity for achieving such supposedly high returns on their stated investments, they should either be at the head of Wall Street or teaching at Harvard, Yale, NYU, etc.
