SANTO DOMINGO.- President Leonel Fernandez again left Dominicans waiting for a major trim of the country’s ballooned list of generals, whose numbers, around 100, were expected to be culled after he vowed such measure in his State of the Nation speech on February 27.
Although as expected, in one of the first decrees issued yesterday began with placing the ex Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) directors Rafael Ramirez Ferreira and Julio Cesar Ventura Bayonet in retirement, two of 10 generals pensioned, but promoted seven colonels to that rank.
Fernandez also placed on retirement the Army generals Héctor Antonio Jacobo, Jose Almonte Sanchez, Luis Mariano Rodriguez Martinez and Jorge Aquilles Medrano Vólquez, the Navy admirals Jose Antonio Carrero and Francisco Frias Olivencia, and Air Force general Raul Enrique Franceschini.
By decree 121-10 Fernandez designated to the general major Antonio Valentin Jáquez Lopez,, chief inspector the Armed Forces, replacing general Jose Ricardo Star Fernandez; to general Edison Mars Vásquez he was placed like director the Institute Social Security the FFAA.
Of the seven colonels promoted to general, four belong to the army, two to the Air Force (FAD) and one (admiral) of the Navy.

Lee-FLEA,
A real good example your setting, your decisions are worth as much as the paper I use to wipe myself, this is exactly what's expected from a COWARD. I got it now, you were that guy being slapped around in NYC and now you want ot get even with society
Coward - is the perceived failure to demonstrate sufficient robustness in the face of a challenging situation. Ditto.
Next year on 27th they should just show a video tape of the previous year's speeches. He tells the same lies, quotest the same inaccurate statistics to prove his points, and makes the same empty promises.

We need a real President who can be for all the people not just himself and a few of their friends. This guy talks in circles and does nothing.

100 generals. now that number sounds just about right for a country this size. i love all the medals they have on their chests, and they have never used a weapon more dangerous than a butter knife. plenty show, no go.

Dread,
Aren't those medals like the ones given out at BOYSCOUTS. You get one for tying knots another for first aid , etc..... Thats what we have in DR, Scout leaders.

Dont understand him, retired 10 generals and promoted 7?
Whats wrong with him? very disapointed of him as a leader and president.
Why we have so many senators and legislators?
Why we have so many provincias in a little island like our is?
I got it if you have a big amount of closed friends and familly working for you, you will create a magic kingdom, with a royal court, where you have 9 millions of souls, paying for wonderful life.
Im really sorry for my country, instead of expending all the money,in generals, congressman, governors ect ect. Why dont we go back as it used to be: five cacicazgos, 5 governments or chieff, invest in education, public infrastructure, medicines in the whole Nation?

Wow, 100 Generals, 101 if we count General Generoso. Forget about the most active Generals in the world per capita. DR may have the highest numerical amount of Generals in the entire world, you would think there would be a war per week to justify this count.

What a transparent corrupt loser.

Thanks Tex,
My post was tinged in sarcasm, I wonder if the per capita assessment may be valid though.

All those 873 generals are more than West Point's basic education in military strategy 2nd lieutenats:
They are chosen by merit and sent to general's school from the rank of full bird coronnels Where as
Ranfis could not make it in the 50's flunked and got thrown out ,his father did not take it too kindly instead blamed the USA for failing his stupid son, whose time was spent as a playboy instead ,who could not even make it at WESTPOINT.That is when Trujillo cut ties with the USA and tried to be SOVIET'S allie but RUSSIA wanted no part of him. Conclussion: These Generals are not supervisors but strategist and war school trained. Not one is less than 50yrs old and good military career and clean record.I agree with ARISTIDES' article 100% .This is not done thru 'atriction', but creating more generals in place of the retired ones. What this bird brain is doing is creating more generals since retired generals get full benefits of active generals and could always be reactivated
