Santo Domingo.– Cuban singer and songwriter Pablo Milanes will sing for Dominican audiences on Friday, 28 March at the Plaza Juan Baron on the Malecon in order to promote the candidacy of his long-time friend Minou Tavarez Mirabal.

Tavarez, who seeks to repeat as deputy for Santo Domingo in May's upcoming elections, was one of the women leaders of the major political parties who went to the Central Electoral Board (JCE) last January to demand adherence to the Law which grants them 33 percent of candidacies.

"The laws not only force political parties to choose women for electoral processes, but also stimulate their participation to contribute with fairness," said Tavarez on that occasion.
