Santiago, Dominican Republic.-  A 4.9 magnitude tremor shook Dominican Republic’s Northwest at 10:53 p.m. Sunday and the Emergency Operations Center (COE) confirmed that there were no injuries or damages reported.

The quake was felt in Santiago, the towns Esperanza, Valverde, Navarrete and Puerto Plata, whose epicenter was located in 19.705 North Latitude and 70.975 West Longitude.

Just hours before the quake on the Dominican side of the border another tremor killed two people in Haiti on Sunday, when a 4 floor apartment building collapsed in that country’s second largest city Cape Haitien, the United Nations office there said.

Something wrong with this... USGS says at 18.43.8 69.33.4 which puts it very close to Bayaguana which is just N of Santo Domingo...
Can someone get the facts correct?

Was there any damage near the epicenter?

It was a deep Quake, 95 Km... not like Haiti which was a shallow "Slip Strike"

We felt it.. woke my wife up

Basta,

Well your facts are unwitting and uncalled for, this is a serious issue and you're not gonna tell me politics has something to do with it. Or is this just another kidnap attend like the ones some of you cronies are so used to?

Anyways, Derik, I just checked USGS and it was located at the same location, north of Santiago, better doble chech that.

Hey Folks,

Please stop kidding on a very serious issue. Earthquake is NOT a joke. I lost some loved ones, relatives and friends in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, caused by the devastating January 12 earthquake in the capital city of my country.

Please, it’s a serious matter; it’s a human deaths related concern. So my heart and prayers go to the Dominican people. Keep praying and organizing you. May God bless the whole island…

Instead of separating, the whole island will rather sink.
