Santo Domingo.- The
Environment Ministry informed yesterday that it would prosecute the deputy for
the ruling PLD party in Haina, Tulio Jiménez, for violating Law 64-00, following
an incident involving a mobile sound system ("discolight") playing loud music
that caused complaints from local residents.
The deputy is reported to
have issued death threats against a National Environment Protection official, First Lieutenant Arvelio Medina Encarnación, because he refused to return the
equipment that had been impounded for playing music at high volume.
The incident led to a
confrontation between army officers and the deputy and his supporters. According
to reports, Jiménez even fired some shots with his gun.

And to fire a weapon in a public place without just cause is a felony.

The PLD, PRD all have discolights. I have had the pictures on the walls fall. This is caused by both parties equally. Neither would get my vote due to this. I will say the only party that writes on walls and disrespects other peoples property is the PRD.
This guy should be put away for a while, but for the stupidity of pulling the gun, If they are going to enforce the noise pollution law then they are going to impound all of the discolights, all Yeeptas on Friday, and Saturday nights that have the doors open with sound systems that you can hear 4 blocks away. In most cases this law is a JOKE.

if you are going to impound all the jeepetas with overgrown boom boxes, half the motoring population will be on foot. it is the local way of saying ¨my thang is bigger than yours ¨.guys will put themselves in debt just to show how much noise they can make. because, trust me on this, NONE of the systems i have heard is reminiscent of music. they all sound like they were made by guys who believe 200hz is bass.
