Dajabón.- Over the last three days, the Dominican authorities have impounded three consignments of food aid donated by the international community to the victims of the Haitian earthquake that were being sold in the Dominican Republic. The Specialized Frontier Security Corps (Cesfront) in Dajabón say that the impounded food products were being sold in the local market.

Cesfront confiscated a consignment of milk that was being taken to Santiago by two Haitians and one Dominican, who managed to escape. They also impounded 3,300 canned food products that had been donated to the earthquake victims in Haiti by countries and international institutions.

Haitian traders at the market were found to be selling other donated products including bread, canned juices and bottled water. One woman, whose nationality was not disclosed, is being held by the authorities.

The confiscated merchandise is handed over to the Dominican Customs Department (DGA) in Dajabón, which delivers it to religious and humanitarian organizations in Haiti so that it can be distributed to earthquake victims, according to Cesfront.

Those F&^%&^%$p hormons are the local Haitian politicians and warlords.
And in a lot of cases protected by their Dominican allies.
Did you really think that a simple earthquake would screwup their usual business
NO-WAY
It just makes more profit for them - business as usual.
And there is more to come ...
(wait till they start looking for the aid funds that were send to both goverments to help in the disaster areas)

"Each American dollar roughly breaks down like this: 42 cents for disaster assistance, 33 cents for U.S. military aid, nine cents for food, nine cents to transport the food, five cents for paying Haitian survivors for recovery efforts, just under one cent to the Haitian government, and about half a cent to the Dominican Republic, " MSNBC reported
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/

oooo

So,for every dollar of aid,

42% ... disaster assistance (in other words, hidden aid to US military)

33%....US military (this is open aid to US military)

9% ... food for Haitians

9% ... transport for food for Haitian

5% ... wages for Haitian workers

1% ... Haitian Government

So, the " impounded 3,300 canned food products, " the DT mentions, comes from the "9% ... food for Hatians" which NGO swine in Haiti handle.

But the NGO swine blame corruption on Hatian Government which gets less than 1% of the aid.

Corruption results not from the 1%, but the 99%.

Some people say the aid money is going to the Haitian Government and the Haitian govenrment is stealing the money.

The bourgeois media however have repeatedly affirmed that the aid money goes to NGOs if it is not first stolen by the US military.

So, clearly some people believe that the Haitian government is an NGO or NGOs are the Haitian Government. These people who blame the corruption with aid money on the Haitian Government don't see the difference between Government and Non-government. They believe government and non-government are same thing.

The NGOs are the "private sector," a herd of swine.

oooo

The lying bourgeois media brainwash the mass of reactionaries that the Haitian Government is responsible for most or all corruption related to the distribution of Haitian aid. This false presupposition implies that aid first entered Haiti, not the DR. Again, an untenable presupposition.

Texas here is how it goes down in Haiti...
The aid arrives there via whatever means, once its stolen or distributed to the HAITIANS, the HAITIANS cross the border with the aid to the International Markets in Dajabon and Pedernales. Supposedly their government knows and taxes what Haitians sell to Dominicans there. Dominicans go there and buy cheap clothes, household goods, decorative items and believe it or not, food, from a country of starving peasants. Believe me once again, this is ongoing, the government in Haiti knows and participates in it. Upon closer inspections of these items you find that 100% is donated. Dominicans simply go to market to buy, not knowing the procedence of the merchandise. These goods are then taken to the famous "pulga" markets in Santiago and Santo Domingo.

guys, there is enough blame to go around. it is not simply a matter of Haitians selling the goods, and Dominicans buying them. it is a criminal conspiracy between two sets of crooks. it is like a guy who buys a radio that he knows was stolen from someone´s car. the buyer and the seller are equally culpable. and, the border guys are getting a cut, just in case you did not enter that into the equation. all a buch of thieves, if you look at it closely enough.

Dreads I beg to differ. While in Santiago a friend's mother went to Dajabon and bought a ton of stuff which she then sold off to various neighbors. When I asked here if she knew where that merchandise came from, she said the Haitians told her that in Haiti those things are abundant and cheap, because the Americans supply them. Like this lady, most of the people that buy these goods do it under the assumption that its just a good deal for them to make money on good quality items. You must also take into account that the people buyin these things are mostly poor, uneducated and unware of the big picture. If the Haitians are willing to sell whats given to them, some one will buy it. Blaming Dominicans for buying what Haitians so readily and plentifully sell is not fair, blame Haitian government and people for selling what should help them build their lives.

If it is so great to be part of Haiti, how come Haiti is one the poorest nations in the world?

I don't get it, is it education, social behavior, or what?

I want to know what is it?

So I can come out of my ignorance....

There are some small islands and countries in North-East Europe, probably smaller that Hispaniola and guess what?

They some of the best Educational, Social, Economical, and anything that ends in "al" system.

So you Explain that to me....

By the way, when I say these PPL, I mean us, Dominicans and Haitians....so you know we are one and the same.

I'm Haitian-Dominican or Dominican-African or African-Dominican by nature...I'm as black as black can be!!!

However that does not mean anything to me when I see my PPL both DR/Haiti behaving like wild neanderthals (cave ppl). Not knowing how to handle things the proper way, the ethical way...so you tell me if it matters if you are Haitian or Dominican?

Good for them, I love mental progress and intellectual growth. I believe that's what make humans excel and create solid nations. See, however reality is different. There are more corrupted politicians than educated-good citizens like your family.

I know a lot educated professional Haitians worth a lot of money. Very nice ppl, nothing against them. Actually, as I said before....I don't believe in color 'cause I'm not a racist. I'm black myself.

However, those who cannot stand and fight for their ppl mean not much and that goes for Dominicans and Haitians.

WISDOM is for all, there's not limitation or restriction unless you put it in your way. And all these politicians know that - therefore, that's why we have Haiti as the poorest and DR as POOR, not to far from Haiti.

Once again, good for them, EDUCATION IS THE TREE OF LIFE and PERSONAL FREEDOM!!

Well guess what dread, if Haitians wouldn't sell their wares at artificially low prices, Dominicans wouldn't bus themselves from Santiago all the way to Dajabon. Instead they would go to La Calle Del Sol and buy them there, at a competitive price from local vendors. This hurts BOTH sides, I wished it didn't happen at all because it mostly hurts our businesses.

JPD. The problem is the same everywhere. Greed, corruption. The people in power live in the lapse of luxury on the back of the poor and middle class. It's not just on this island. It happens all over the world.
What these people fail to realise is if they invest in the country and educate the population they will make more money. The most corrupt are the ones that have homes abroad and they steal and pilfer goverment money as if its their own personal piggy bank.
Remember, we live in a society that glorifies materalism. Teach a mans worth is based on "stuff".
Capitalism and materialism. Noone is willing to sacrifice for the good of the mass. Everyone is trying to line their pockets..
