Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic’s top diplomat yesterday said each nation must evaluate its own activities without anyone coming to offer reports, and asked the United States no to interfere in the country’s internal affairs, because Dominican Republic doesn’t issue reports on that nation’s corruption.
Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales, who was accused of being U.S. citizen when he was Vice President in the late 1980s, said the country fights corruption today more than ever.
He noted that president Leonel Fernandez had already dealt with the issue publicly before the U.S. State Department’s report on drug trafficking, which stressed that Dominican Republic’s “endemic” corruption prevents a successful effort against it.
The official, interviewed during the first seminar for Dominican suppliers who want to take part in Haiti’s reconstruction with the UN’s participation, said in the wake of the global financial crisis very few of those responsible have been arrested in the U.S., whose justice is said to be slow but sure, it would be important “that they also act faster.”

But you squeal like a pig when anyone notes your rampant corruption at all levels.

look what it takes to make a nation respond to their own dilema. Why let other countries bring it to your attention and then be pissed about it, " THE TRUTH HURTS ".......... DR has kangaroo courts where for a couple of dollars the judge sells him/herself like a cheep whowa, of course a superpower nation will address this, Maybe the USA doesn't want to invade DR because of some rouge General decides to overtake the DR GOV or something in that nature.

That's a BILLION DOLLARS, by the way. How much will be spent on the reelection campaign? How much will be spent buying votes? How much goes directly into the pockets of the people approving this loan?
How much more of this crap can we take?

The international community has the right to evaluate any country it sees fit. If you don't like the results you are free to dispute them. The problem is the DR has no facts to dispute because it is all true.. If the US had any balls they would tell the DR there will be no more free money or help while this blow hard keeps shooting off his mouth. This will send a clear message.

Morales Troncoso was born rich, his family was one of trujillo's most trusted allies.
he became Juaquin Balaguer disciple during the 12 yrs of terror and today he represent what we call " la vieja guardia del trujillismo "
To me is not surprise that he took offence with this report since it points out the “endemic” nature of corruption in our country and responded in typical balagurista fashion.
In one particular time during los doce años Balaguer was asked by a prominent U.S official:
"must you be so repressive in your methods to counter opposition?" To which Balaguer replied "I don't tell you how to run your country, and you don't tell me how to run mine."
If you read the first paragraph of this article you'll know he is old_school_balaguerista.

US slimeballs complain about corruption everywhere.
The expert on US corruption speak:
When you have been a victim of wrongdoing by a judge or lawyer, you have joined the ranks of what are now millions of victims of sleaze and corruption in the American legal system.
But you need first of all to realize that you are in an extremely difficult situation, and it will be very difficult for you to get help, despite your being surrounded by nearly a million lawyers in the USA, and living in a society that is obsessed with law and lawyers, with courts and with lawsuits.
This FAQ or list of Frequently Asked Questions, will help you understand the situation in which you find yourself. This FAQ will explain what will likely happen as you try the various avenues of seeking help and justice, and the powerful forces that are set up against you.

You have begun a road that is probably long and lonely, as well as dangerous. You or a loved one may be threatened with jail and prison, with losing everything you have or own, even with being physically and mentally tormented, being murdered or put to death.
You may be completely innocent, and have complete proof that a lawyer or judge or their friends have committed major felony crimes.
But still, you may have a terribly difficult time getting anyone to help you, or getting the news media to cover your story, or even getting someone to listen to you.

The one reason the US will speak to the DR about corruption is the US is a lender nation to the DR.
It is just the same as the US government jumping through hoops for the Chinese as they are a lender nation the the US.
any business that tries to get a loan has to bring the books in for review to the bank. Why should the DR feel they are much different.

The problem here is not whether corruption exist but how we deal with it in our country. DR has always been dirty but what gets me is how it's out in the open and then when it is exposed no one gets to do any hard time, when are we going to set an example. These politicians only get a slap on the wrist if any, Now you got this idiot (not Leonel that's the other idiot) Carlos Morales just making our country look so ignorant and silly. Even the media has no power in this country. Usually when an issue is exposed to the media you see a reaction but not here these guys are too powerful to let the pueblo bring them down. They even make laws now so there won't be some much transparency towards these politicians. What a JOKE!!!!
From: Dominican Republic
I am not saying DR has not corruption but I do agree 100% in what Carlos Morales Troncoso is saying. Are we school children who need report cards at the end of a school? I lived in the United States most of my life and I worked for the city for a number of years and boy did I see corruption there and we did not create a report on it and send it to the US Government therefore they need to butt out of our business and the same way they dealt with the corrupt wall street executives who brought us to the situation we are in now, we shall deal with our corrupt executives! Eh Dicho Carajo!
