Santo Domingo.- The Group Punta Cana (Puntacana) yesterday denied having given lands to congressman Charles Rangel, the resort operator said in a brief statement.
“All information published by the newspaper El Nacional today (Thursday) is untrue and doesn’t deserve credit," said the Puntacana Resort & Club, in eastern Altagracia province, where the congressman has a beach house.
It said Rangel acquired a 150 square meter villa in the condo Punta Cana Beach Resort in 1987, which forms part of the Puntacana Hotel today, and " it’s a property which even multiplied several times by the current market value and space it occupies, doesn’t come close to the figures given in the story published."
On Wednesday Rangel stepped down “temporarily” as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, until the probe on his alleged ethical infractions concludes.

To all of you: He (Rangel) got caught! That is all there is to it! Finally - the politicians and court of public opinion got him. His DR villa? You all know he will continue trying to put together a good story. Just another U.S. politican has been caught with his "pants down". He has been stealing from his Harlem constitutents for years - but he thought he was invincible. Too bad!

And NO ONE goes to jail. That is what frustrates me more than anything about the Dominican entitled mentality. At least in the US people like this fool will go to jail.
