Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office advised on Friday that a low pressure system may cause higher than normal surges and flood low-lying areas along the Atlantic coast provinces Montecristi, Samaná and Maria Trinidad Sanchez
The forecaster Rafael Cabrera said an alert for those areas is still in effect and urged residents to heed the bulletins issued by public safety agencies.
Light showers fell from Santo Domingo in the west to La Romana in the east Friday morning, as most of the country can expect precipitations this afternoon.
