CARACAS.- Honduras ex president Manuel Zelaya returned to Dominican Republic on Saturday, after president Hugo Chávez designated him " new chief coordinator and policy adviser for the defense, independence and democracy," of the Petrocaribe oil allotment program, during his trip to Venezuela.

“I return to Dominican Republic thinking that Chavez’s idea to secure support for Latin America’s democracy will be applauded, because our countries need sovereignty," Zelaya said to the official channel, VTV, before boarding a flight to Santo Domingo.

Venezuela Foreign Relations minister Nicolas Maduro had first announced the designation during the meeting between Zelaya and Chávez on Friday.

Through Petrocaribe Venezuela provides oils and its derivatives with financial facilities to the region’s countries since 2005.

On Saturday Chávez said he and Zelaya “we were the only two deposed presidents of this century, and he remained only without soldiers, because people he has."

Chávez, who steadfastly defended Zelaya since his overthrow in June, said recently that he will recognize Hondura president Porfirio Lobo if he allows the deposed leader to return to his country to "make political life."

LF would be wise to distance himself from Mel quickly. Chavez already thumbed his nose at LF, by not meeting with him last week. Mel will always side with his solemate Chavez. No room for LF in their grand plan. LF needs the USA more than he needs Chavez, now that his empire is under the careful eye of the US DEA. Look for more sacrificial lambs (Generals in retirement) soon in the DR.

Hugo-botella for Mr. Zelaya, after all, he got in trouble for trying to get Honduras into the ALBA organization, and rich Hundurians kicked him out for listening to Chavez.

Hugo-a-go-go the Puppet Master is at it again.......

Nothing like "showing the RIGHT HAND in order to hide what the LEFT HAND is really doing"

Maybe Mr. "Z" will now move to Venezuela permanently and things will come up roses.

I believe now it's a good time to distance / sever [cut the strings] relations with Venezuela in order not to tarnish the DR's image in Latin America and the world.

Does LF really think he can trust HC ?

The DR should strive for other energy sources.......

This is a very wise decision of Hugo Chavez. I also think that both countries should be sovereign.
