Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government yesterday said Venezuela president Hugo Chavez, would come to the country to seek, together with Dominican par Leonel Fernandez, a solution to that nation’s conflict with Colombia.

Presidency Chief of staff Cesar Pina said Fernandez’s efforts to ease the conflict between Chávez and Colombia president Alvaro Uribe would continue. "Venezuela Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro could come at any time, to resume what Fernandez and Uribe already began in Colombia, during a gathering last weekend."

Without specifying a date, Pina said Fernandez and Chávez spoke about the possibility of the latter coming to the country to speak about the problem between those nations, during the Rio Group Summit in Cancún, Mexico.

In that regard, Cabinet level Adviser and Chávez’s friend Miguel Mejía also spoke on the topic. “I was talking with president Chávez in Uruguay and he expressed his interest to me of coming to the Dominican Republic as soon as possible and entrusted Nicolas Maduro to organize his visit."

But the Venezuela State media Web site reports that the meeting with Fernandez and Maduro in Dominican Republic’s National Palace was “suspended for reasons of agenda,” leaving a crows of  media awaiting the official’s visit the entire morning.
