SANTO DOMINGO. - The Government today said it regrets any concern or annoyance caused unintentionally with Venezuela over president Leonel Fernandez’s shuttle diplomacy to quell tensions between that nation and Colombia, as Hugo Chavez has yet to directly communicate his stance on the effort .
A statement by the Foreign Relations Ministry says it has tried various routes to strike a direct communication with Venezuela’s Government and keep it abreast of the methodology undertaken for the purpose of peace, as it were decided in the recent Rio Group Summit in Cancún, Mexico.
“Unfortunately we didn’t get a response to those efforts to establish a direct link. In any case based on the traditional relations of friendship and brotherhood between our peoples and governments we vow respect to those considerations," the said the statement released after president Leonel Fernandez met with Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales.
Yesterday Venezuela Foreign Relations minister Nicolas Maduro didn’t come to the country, as announced, to meet with Fernandez, who heads the effort to deal with the crisis between Venezuela and Colombia.
A meeting between Fernandez and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela on Saturday also failed to materialize, though the reasons weren’t divulged.

The cause of increased tensions between the Venezuela and reactionary Colombian regime is the decision of the US imperialists to add seven new US military bases to the three US bases already in Colombia.
The foul regime of bourgeois quislings in Bogota has no power to amend or cancel the decision of US imperialists to build-up the armed forces of US imperialism in Colombia.
Thus, mediation between Venezuela and vile Colombian regime leaves out a key party, US imperialism.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro did not come for the announced meeting that would have taken place yesterday in Santo Domingo with President Leonel Fernandez. The reason given by the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Venezuela was that his agenda became too complicated.
As reported in Diario Libre, the Dominican government said that President Leonel Fernandez continues to lobby between President Alvaro Uribe in Colombia and President Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. And that President Hugo Chavez himself could visit in the near future.

Strictly speaking, US imperialists are a sector or the mass of US bourgeoisie, a class composed of 8 to 10 million millionaires or capitalists, somewhere about 3% of the US people.
