Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Province Juvenile Court sent five minors, three boys and two girls, to jail on charges of killing seven taxi drivers in different parts of the municipality Santo Domingo East, where the Police revealed that the group, which included two adults, had sex while they murdered their victims.
The macabre murders are unprecedented in the country, and spurred several personalities to suggest a harsher Penal Procedural Code for Minors.
The gang, after stabbing the taxi drivers to death or strangling them, stole their belongings including the vehicles, and bought newspapers the following day to find out their names and what the authorities said.
Fisher Fernandez, a taxi driver who was assaulted and who miraculously escaped alive, said they him kidnapped during three hours. “Bastard, you are watching me to later denounce me,!” he said one of the minors shouted at him during the holdup.
“One of the two girls plunged the knife slowly into my back while another of the youngsters told me ‘as soon as we get there I’m going to kill you, what I want to see is blood,” the driver said as he showed the stab wounds.
Another victim Adelio Calderón however didn’t have such luck. Marta Heredia, his wife amid tears only asked for justice. “My husband was a man of work, a good man, he didn’t even speak. What I want is the full weight of the Law.”

Sick youngsters and very sad for DR society. These kids must pay as adults or better yet take them to the campo and make them diappear, and save the good DR folks from this plague. If family members were aware of their crimes, they too must follow the same path. I do like the idea of "allowing them to dig their own graves." Maybe they will finally close the big loop hole that exist when putting young criminals in jail. The bigger question is why not go after the ones brain washing the young kids and give them a much larger sentence? oh wait that would just mean police and their friends will have to go to jail because most people know that the ones behind most of these tragedies are police, lawyers and a couple others.

Well it is a known fact that a child that kills once, will more than likely kill again and again if given the chance to do so. I hope that the law in DR really picks it up a couple of notches when it comes to how these child sociopaths are treated and how justices it handed to them. Obviously whatever is in place right no is not working and it is not sufficient to deter them. Harsher penalties and longer jail time if you the crime is needed. Like in the US a child that commits a crime like an adult is treated like an adult in the eyes of the law.

in all seriousness, these calls for a return to the days of Trujillo are serious indicators to the level of frustration within the society. i hear them on a daily basis. in my daily travels, it is something discussed by many groups of common folks. it suggests that the whole flirtation with democracy has not worked, and has germinated more misery than positive results. that may be an incorrect assessment, but it is the sentiment they hold to. they see the levels of corruption among the politicians, the military, and their enablers. they see the lack of opportunity, lack of services, and, latterly, the lack of security. this is not going well..no good can come of this. all manner of disturbing outcomes could be in the cards.

Dread, Dominicans are always looking for the strongman, for one guy to come and miraculously fix everything, a sort of political messiah. It's just a way of directing responsibility away from the individual and society. "Si Dios quiere" as a common answer to all pretty much sums up the attitude and from THAT mentality nothing good could come from indeed.
From: United States
cibaeno, i have said that a million times on this site. that is why they love politicians so much. i have never seen so much energy being exhausted on a political campaign as i see here. it seems as though everyone is looking for the shining knight on the white horse to ride in and save them. guys will discuss the candidates for hours on end. yes, candidates for little do nothing posts like diputado.. candidates who have no vision, no ideas, and no will to get things ahead. people have to understand that, in a large measure, progress begins at home.

etiennc01-I feel for you brother, but this is not a racial thing and please don't turn it into one. This is about juvenile delinquency. Nevertheless, I know you are in pain by comments of previous posters, but you know quite well that those guys are just venting. Dominicans in general do not hate, unless directly hurt or affected. Deep down we do not hold grudges in spite of any negative exchange of words you may have experienced. Judge people not by the things that they say, but rather the things that they do and remember words are cheap. It cost little to nothing, it is the same price to blurp out words of wisdom as it is stupidity. Maybe if you read the bible text below you will be more objective and might better understand why Dominicans are angry:
"Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath scorched me. My mother's sons were incensed against me, they made me keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept." Song of Solomon 1:6-
From: United States
The text has a language of "complaint". We are all pretty ready at complaining, especially of other people. Not much good comes of picking holes in other men's characters; and yet many spend hours in that unprofitable occupation. It will be well for us, at this time, to let our complaint, like that of the text, deal with ourselves. If there is something wrong at home, let the father blame himself; if there is something ill with the children, let the mother look to her own personal conduct as their instructor. Do not let us lend out our ears, but let us keep them at home for our own use. Let us clear out an open passage to the heart, so that everything that is said shall go down into the spirit, and purify our inner man. Let us from the heart make the confession "they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but my own vineyard have I not kept."
From: United States
guillermone, sadly, that is what cibaeno and i were just saying. i have posted on it before, but a sad artifact of local culture is the extreme reluctance among the people to blame themselves for their failings and errorrs, always looking desperately for a scapegoat. it is always someone else that screwed up things for them.maybe it is a residual underlying characteristic of dictatorship, wherein you have so little control over your fortunes, it must be some outside factor that decides your outcomes. so, if things go badly, it is one of your earthly contemporaries. if they go well, it must be DIOS.

But I will say, this.....WE meaning Society ? or WE meaning responcible PARENTS ?
Who's LAW ? .......and whos JUNGLE ?
Someone please help me to understand......"calling for their death" or JUSTICE ?
Better yet ! lets locate BOTH Parents of the minors arrested and put them on trial.....for what ?
I believe Dominican Society is "ROCKED" not by the crime so much but as to the ages of those arrested.
I also believe most Parents are loving Parents.
Teach a Child love he'll love
Teach a Child respect he'll be respectful
Teach a Child forgiveness he'll be forgiving
and I can go on and on.
It doesn't take a Village to raise a child.....IT TAKES BOTH LOVING RESPONCIBLE PARENTS and CARING FAMILY, a Child will never stray from that.
Destruction of the family, I mean the destruction of Society.
LOVING AND CARING PARENTS RAISE LOVING AND CARING CHILDREN WHO IN TURN BECOME LOVING AND CARING PARENTS THEMSELVES.

riosm-We have differences of opinion and will respectfully disagree with your comment-"It doesn't take a Village to raise a child." Well I believe that is does and part of that village is composed of your neighbors, the local merchants, church and schools. No doubt that loving and responsible parents will ultimately make the difference. But this tragedy is simply the negative side effects of a society in transition from one that was once made up of scattered, predominately close knit villages, rural-agricultural communities to the one of today densely urban, individualistic, self-centered, depersonalized, clustered, coccon-like and self-isolated. We have lost the trusted neighbor, the local butcher and grocer, the respect of our teachers, all of them were once able to monitor our kids in case of misbehavior, often times were allowed to take on a disciplinary role during the absence of a parent. It was once an unstructured cooperative system of mutual assistance among everyone

Do you speak from personal experiance ?
Lets be realistic....are we now talking about the differance of youth in the U.S or the D.R ?
First in the U.S our youth have no idea and don't care of what life is like in the 3rd world Countrys such as the D.R.
The problem as I see it in the U.S were in the mind set of me, mine and I a 1960's mentality and we are reaping our rewards with gangs, drugs, teen-age pregnacys, anti-sociel behaviour with the phrase "not my problem, its someone else's" try desiplining someone else's Child in the U.S !
In the U.S we have thousands of laws on the books that are suppose to protect Children.......how many in the DR ?
Lets NOT start by removing, the taking away of Personal Parental Responsibilties.
Can we agree on one thing.....WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO TAKING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONES ACTION ! "I WAS BORN A POOR --------- CHILD" as some sort of excuse for criminal behaviour.
Take care Brother.

riosm-I also work with "at risk kids" I do not argue that "Love" will conquer all, however, It is a societal issue as well and not just family dysfunction. It is also our problem because we will end up paying for it sooner or later, one way or another. There is no such thing as a free lunch. We have lost a sense of community and we need to bring it back. Just look at the way our roads and homes are built. At one time houses all had porches to allow the opportunity to for interaction within family, neighbors and friends. Today they are all gone. Small family owned retailers have almost disappeared to make way for big box stores like Walmart. We don't deal with humans anymore but rather machines and we are naturally becoming dehumanized and desensitized. Parents will do their best to raise a great kid, but all that energy and work can easily go to waste once that kid walks out the door. The community is no longer our extended family and the reason why society needs to do their part

Great points I totally agree.....see we are on the same page.
Fact is Children act way differant at home then they do in the streets and schools, Parents need to realize this.
The me, mine and I mentality, sad but true People fell safe in their 4 walls & roof [home] many don't even meet the Family next door.
Reality is in the U.S back in the 1950's Family meant something, Dad worked the 9-5 job Mom on the other hand stayed home watching the Children....no more ! in this day and age with devorce, single Parenting etc..etc..
Mothers threw financial needs are forced to join the work place, question is..... who's watching the kids.....T.V ? In the U.S alone Children get plenty of violence threw Movies and those graphic video games.
The 1960's changed all that and with it morals and Family values where rebellion, sexual revolution, drugs and Woman rights ended with negetive results.
I'll contact you, take care.

skiendhiu -I hope you are not talking about me, because if you read my post I did not blame society for the evil action of these kids. What I said was that the action of these kids is simply a reflection of the sick society that we live in. But to cure society we must cure the family and the kids first. There is no other way. Radiation will kill the cancer, but it will not cure the desease. Prison and punishment will stop the symtoms but not the illness. We have to get to the root of the cause, otherwise we will be spinning our wheels in vain for the rest of our lives and will have to end up living armed with a shot gun in homes that resemble walled-in forts. Doing these things does not solve the problem. It is just temporary measure needed for immediate survival until a solution is finally found.

And we are surprised and shocked when they imitate us.
Go ahead ,brake the mirror in small pieces. You will still see your faces
you are no better than they are, I say kill the little freaks and rid the world of their vile...
I will no be surprised when they stone a taxi driver to death. They learn from the best that the Dominican Republic can produce. You in this forum.

These kids have read the way you in this forum ......."
Newsflash: I sincerely doubt that those miscreants spend their leisure hours surfing the 'net and keeping up with the latest postings on DT...LOLOLOL...Hilarious.
Guys can you really blame these teenagers when a high level government official who's a consultant on Corruption and Narco-trafficking to LIE-onel Fernandez endorses openly the Stealing of the Taxpayers money and tries to rationalize and de facto legitimize corruption:
"Vincho" justifica uso del dinero del Estado en campaña del PLD
I always knew Uncle Fester was off his Rocker but he has no gone totally off the deep end!

"Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath scorched me. My mother's sons were incensed against me, they made me keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept." Song of Solomon 1:6-
My heart and prayers go to the victims and their Families.
When we bombard our kids with hate and teach them the law of the jungle, we should not be shoked when they use the law of the jungle to survive.
Calling for their death is not solving the problems it is just a way to quickly sweep it under the carpet.
We should destroy the social incubator that helps proliferate these beeds.

GO AHEAD AND YANK MY POSTS.... AGREE WITH U 1,000% DONT KNOW ABOUT OTHERS THOUGH.
LOVING AND CARING PARENTS RAISE LOVING AND CARING CHILDREN WHO IN TURN BECOME LOVING AND CARING PARENTS THEMSELVES.
lets send them to diferent jail.
lets send them to diferent jail.
The million dollar question is........who's huchie mama were they prior to them making another person a crime victim ?
Sir....I have been working with problem youth in South Central Los Angeles California for the last 30 years....and the bottom line is NO LOVE, and to think some of the best things in life are FREE.
well ,they will kill you !
I'd have someone tie them down and perform the old Trujillo ritual that he performed on his enemies.

So obviously they are psychopath killers who will never change and will continue killing more inocent people, and the DR people should not absorb the cost of housing these parasites.
They did not kill these poor taxi drivers for monetary reasons, if that is the case they could have gone after rich people, they just went for the easy kill.
Being raised in a poor environment is not reason to commit such crimes.
The involved adults should be eliminated first, the the little parasites.
I say hang them ALL after being convicted from the nearest mango tree.
I don't have a clue....email DT.
I'm surprized I'm still on...
