SAN JUAN.- FBI, DEA and Puerto Rico Police have reportedly arrested the Puerto Rican fugitive Jose D. Figueroa Agosto and his Dominican paramour Sobeida Felix in a raid in the suburb Carolina, said a source close to the investigation quoted by Dominican media.

The source quoted by news source elnuevodiario.com.do said the details of the arrest of the couple, which for the last few months have dodged Dominican and Puerto Rican agents, will be made public on Tuesday, although none of Puerto Rico’s media have reported the alleged arrests of the most wanted felons.

News of Figueroa’s and Felix’s arrest comes just one week after they were caught on video shopping in a San Juan store, as confirmed by that country’s authorities.

Figueroa was serving a 209 year prison sentence in a jail near San Juan before his escape and declared a fugitive in Dominican Republic on September 3, in the wake of the confiscation of US$4.6 million in an armored SUV in an upscale sector of Santo Domingo, whereas Felix was also declared a fugitive when she skipped bail, and the authorities posted a RD$5 million reward for information on their whereabouts.

The Puerto Rican fugitive had announced a RD$30 million contract for the murder of the National Police Chief and the head of the Drugs Control Agency.

No other news source in Puerto Rico has commented on the presumed arrest, so I find this very irregular that the news was only reported by a Dominican republic paper.
I am skeptical about the veracity of their capture, but if it proves real, it could be the news story of the year, and would give profound nightmares to many Dominicans big shots.
My bet is that is just another piece of yellow journalism to increase circulation on a slow friday of semana santa.

If they truly caught him in PR I do not think they will have to offer much to get him to talk. Remember he was already in jail for murder. Escaped and since the time has been responsible for more murders. They will offer not to strap him tot he chair to get him to talk.

Not true. He was seen on video buying trainers for $600 - to ensure he could run faster maybe! The people are too scared to report seeing him, although one did to the US Marshalls who viewed the security video and confirmed it was them.

Now for the news they were trying to divert us from:

April 3, 2010, 4:48 PM

Guzmán admits the Spanish NARCO buddy of LIE-onel Fernadez was a "honorary" Cop!

Guillermo Guzmán Fermín admits the drug dealer got a honorary rank, but it had been stripped in January.

However, the police chief whose father is the legal owner of an apartment in the Tower Atiemar, does not explain why the drug dealer was deprived of that honor, or why he was given one in the first place.

Oh CaCa< No wonder LIE-onel Fernandez has been laying low!

SANTO DOMINGO, DN-The alleged drug kingpin Jose Figueroa in Agost,o wanted by Dominican and Puerto Rican authorities is actually an agent at the service of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to the newspaper published on Sunday Primera Hora.com, of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

The information being signed by journalist José Figueroa Claudio Matos claims in Agosto, also known in Puerto Rico as "Junior Capsule" is an informant for the DEA, which " bandhas done an excellent job in detecting drug trafficking in high places in Republic Dominican. "

If this pans out there will not be enough Kaopectate in DR or the National Place.

LIE-onel Fernandez it would be a nice breaking the ice gesture to bring Noriega a personally autographed Ride Free METRO card.

This astonishing:

"Incluso, según los informes, un vehículo blindado ocupado al fugitivo puertorriqueño fue utilizado por un presidente latinoamericano que visitó el país el año pasado."

"There are many people involved, you can not mention names, everyone knows, but nobody wants to talk about the case," the source said.

Now this is only hypothetical of course, but who would have first dibs on LIE-onel Fernandez derrière (and no jokes about Ricky Martin being the first), Baltasar Garzón Real or Eric Holder?

Brother Jo,

I can see that you are trying to temper your exhileration by saying things like "if this pans out..." but you can nary play down you excitement which is to the point of a fat kid with the keys to a bakery. I took the liberty to provide you with Mr. Noriega's contact info should you wish to let him know of a probable future roommate.
