SANTO DOMINGO.- A delegation of the United States Department of Justice on Tuesday stated Washington’s willingness to expand its support to the country’s war on drug trafficking and other pressing issues.
The head of the delegation which visited Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez, Department of Justice assistant director Mary D. Rodriguez stressed the Ministry’s work in cases of extradition which she said is among the best in the region.
The U.S. official hailed Dominican Republic’s support in the joint efforts against drug trafficking, whereas Jiménez said U.S. cooperation has been fundamental in the progress of projects since he was designated in the post.
The U.S. delegation included U.S. Embassy Commercial attaché Christopher Lambert, general consul Mike Schimmel, Michael Krantz, Jerold McMillen and Cameron Holland.

Does this have anything to do with that new Airport ?
The USA has not been able to halt drug and money laundering in their own country, which puts the DR's illicit drugs and dirty money amounts to peanuts in comparison, yet you expect the DR to do just that with some 1960's boats, a few propeller planes and Vietnam-era issued helos???
If the US was serious about aiding the DR stop the criminals from using our country as a bridge (and as of lately a new consumer point), it would DONATE some F-16s, some Navy cutters and Black hawks fit for marine duty...
They give millions to Mexico and Colombia in military gear for free, yet they have a very crappy relation with both countries to day the least. The DR is almost a US colony since 1925; why not provide the needed military assistance now before the cartels turn it into a new Tijuana battleground. Their "good" relations with Mexico and Colombia depend on the political party in power there, in the DR it matters not whom, as provided with the old PLD.
AND WHOS GOING TO FLY THEM?
involvement of cuban troops in pres. chavez's military.
cubans are involved in training troops, they are also playing a role in intelligence, weapons, communications immigration, the police, the electrical sector and the key oil industry.
many in venezuelan opposition are demaning chavez provide information about cubans working for the governement
saying "never before in our history have we allowed citizens of other countrys to assume key posts associated with national security.
wonder how u feel about cuban troops in santo domingo?
I agree good point........Imigration ? could that explain the Che t-shirts worn and the revolutionary mentality during the AZ-1070 protest on May 1, 2010 MAY DAY ?
Fact....the word illegal removed from the phrase "illegal imigration", Dominicans do know and understand a little about illegal imigration.
Imagine U.S troops in Mexico or Mexican troop's in the U.S.
Just words for thought.
Take care.
Excuse me......the DR needs 100% non-corrupt politicos from the top down......more like it's like a firefighter starting the fires.
