Santo Domingo.- Investigators suspect Colombian hired killers gunned down Rubén Soto and two other men in the parking lot of the famous eatery La Francesa Friday afternoon, including the watchman Jorge Valdez and the messenger Maximo Gerónimo.

Investigators also seek to determine if the gunmen left the country the same day that committed the triple murder, whereas the National Police spokesman Nelson Rosario announced that the probe has widened, but didn’t have anything new to report.

Soto was the stepfather of Madelín Bernard, widow of colonel Jose Amado González, gunned down on December 24 in front of his residence.

The late officer was implicated in the drug trafficking network headed by the Puerto Rican fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto. He was murdered just a few days after the National District Office of the Prosecutor interrogate Bernard, who was wounded in the hail of bullets fired at her husband.

Gunned down so far have been Soto, González, the businessman Ramon Antigua Polanco and the inmate Gabriel Castillo Arias (Alex el Pelotero), all of whom the authorities link to Figueroa.

This is the first of many of these types of killings UNLESS the Dominican government, military, judicial system and law enforcement ranks are swept clean......and this is highly unlikely.

This is going to get just like Juarez Mexico

.... Except….

The drug lords are better prepared and more savvy than the Dominican Government, Ploice and Military.

The sad part is that Innocent people DIE.

RIP

Really doubt that hit squads from out of the country are going to come all the way to DR to kill a poor, elderly, unarmed owner of a coffee shop.
This was an inside job on an easy target, by persons high up and well protected that want to scare the hell out of any other possible snitches, that may be thinking about spilling the beans.
I do not buy this fantasy about Colombian hit squads, or extraterrestrials landing from the cosmos, tell me a cowboy story better.

Anyone with half a brain would have cracked this case a long time ago! Actually the Media and the public have crack the cases, but not the 3rd grade educated Dominican investigators! These guys couldn't solve a crime comitted in front of them. But if this guy was involved in Drug Trafficking I can't say i'm saddened by the lose! Good Riddance.

Normal load of nonsense being given out in a pathetic attempt to muddy the waters ..if it was hit men from Colombia arriving and exiting the DR quickly I am sure it would be easy to prove..the lack of convictions in the Figueroa case is an embarrassment

lopez,
I don't think that many judges in DR want to handle this case in fear of their family safety

He was guilty of trafficking narcotics, he was involved in the rackets, he was helping to provide a product that was poisoning the youth of Quisqueya and undermining our society as a whole.

Thus

Justice, has been served.

I think we should round up every colombian national in the country , and do very thoro background check on every colombian imigrant and find out what is there bussness in santo domingo . no matter if this guy sold drugs on the streets , it does not make him any less of a human . A murder was commited and we need to bring the criminals responsible for this

now that is a new approach ..normally we want to round up those from Haiti or Venezuela ..I have a theory that the killers may have been long lost friends who have returned recently from los carceles in the USA ,no need to hire anyone from Colombia these days .

VivaCuba,
Now wait a minute......Beautiful beaches, no dought.

Politics, big Brother mentality bulling the Island, living life freely but poorly !

With one ruler ruling with the same Socialist system for over 50 years and counting.

Is that the Cuban Peoples idea of freedom ?

Could it be because it's the only system the Cubans know ?

Well anyway at least you enjoyed yourself with your Family.

Take care.

Hellborn25,
When one thinks of "illigal immigration" the first thought that comes to mind is the U.S / Mexican immigration problem, but consider.....The DR has it's own illigal immigration problems.....heck even Mexico with illigals entering the U.S via Mexico from Central & South America, yet the National / world media aviods ever covering the abuse the Mexican armed Troops aganist those immigrants like rapes, beating, jailed and even murder never mind DUE PROCESS.....MEXICO'S DIRTY LITTLE SECRET.....Does Amnesty International ring a bell ?
Just think with AZ-1070 Law one can only wonder how many other immigrants from all parts of the world inclueding Africa with, now get this.....EXPIRED STUDENT and VISITOR VISA's.

I don't know about you but I'm still waiting for ElPorfe's latest report of possible abuse / Constitutional rights violation in TEXAS by the local Texas Police.

Take care.

ElProfe.........where are you ?
