SANTO DOMINGO. - Juan Hubieres, the head of a nationwide association of bus owners whose constant strikes have claimed the lives of innocent people, and whose mere threats of stoppages strike fear in Government officials, will be the Deputy of the town Bayaguana, Monte Plata province (east).

Moreover, Rosendo Arsenio Borges, the director of the Dominican Port Authority during the Hipolito Mejia Presidency (2000-2004), whose indictment in the case of the thousands of tons of the pollutant rock-ash dumped in the port towns Arroyo Barril, in Samana (northeast), and in Manzanillo, Montecristi (northwest) is still pending, also won a Deputy seat, for the Capital’s 2nd Congressional District.

The new lawmakers will join in the Chamber of Deputies, as of August 16, their colleague from La Vega (central) Radhamés Ramos Garcia, convicted of people trafficking, and whose prison sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court on March 2, 2005. He was convicted of smuggling 14 Chinese citizens  into the country in 2002, when he was consul in Cape Haitian.

These people are no different thant the people from before and present. Remember the everyone In this world deserve a second chance. If you commit a crime in the past is not fare to be judge by your past. maybe these people will do better than the one from that past. Thanks god they are in Dominican Republic Becuase in the USA you can kiss the second chance goodbye. Get over it you know that if you made a mistake you know liked anyone you would mind getting a second chance. Maybe these people are rehabilitate to do better. The time and future will tell, I don't condole what they did in their past, but god do gives people a second chance If you know that. God bless My country DR. In god we trust for second chance's

PLD won the elections, now Lie-onel plus PLD's Senator-elect, Deputy-elect,.... and others PLD members, it is great to start another run of the Big Corruptions.

Because all people know "Criminals" can be elected and immune from prosecutions....

Great timing to have another big run of corruptions, drug, fraud.......etc.

They now have the chance to work around the law to do what they failed to accomplished before. There should be a way to prevent outlaw citizens from assuming elected positions, although they should've been stopped as candidates. I bet that if there is a law preventing citizens to register as candidates if tax evasion is found in the past five years before they are aspiring, our country would have to spend at least a year looking for candidates. Let's start now! That's why we're pushing for a change in people's mind. We have been wrong, beginning with having "Dominican" as our national identity. Duarte's Ideal was to change that for Quisqueya. When we become Quisqueyans, then a new set of values and moral behavior will be taught to our new generations. http://www.quisqueya.name

What party are these criminals from and how can they get pre selection ?? I suppose this situation sums up all the problems in the country and really shows how difficult it is to get decent candidates to serve the people

Marion Barry at least did jail time.

But that was another shameful political boondoggle.

For him to be re-elected only show the lack of intelligence in DC.

Chino Ramos is a convicted ex-con found guilty of human trafficking and served time. He is has also being pro-abortion and pro life and says that God has reserved the presidency for him. His solution for pregnant woman that want to abort is to "throw themselves on their butt on a flight of stairs". With winners like this one the congress deserves the rightful name, "Ali-Baba and the 40 Thieves".

To any body who is happy that there party elected any one to any position, you do not love your country. Because these newly elected criminals are just going to make themselves richer and the country worst. To compare the elected criminals in DR to the ones in the US is just trying to ignore reality. Corruption in a country like DR is pushing it into becoming a NARCO STATE. Other than because of the high level of corruption what other reason is there for all of the freedom criminals have to traffic such large amounts and kill whomever. No one who loves DR should be happy for ANY victory for either or any political part. Just very sad.
