SANTO DOMINGO.- The Navy’s deputy Chief of Staff was injured by one gunshot in the leg by a group of thugs while he visited his mother’s tomb in the cemetery Cristo Redentor, the Police reported on Sunday.
Rear admiral Ramon Gustavo Betances was also beaten on his head by a blunt object, while the attackers took his standard issue piston.
Police spokesman Nelson Rosario said he official, who is also Navy inspector general, went to the Santo Domingo West cemetery in civilian clothes to visit his mother’s resting place at 11 a.m., when three men posing as tomb cleaners approached to assault him.
He said Police agents almost immediately caught one of the aggressors, Wilkin de los Santos Lorenzo, 25, who identified the other two, including Franklin Angel Dicent, 24, arrested last night, wheras the third identified only as Malcom, is being sought.

Why the Navy guy is the target of violence?
1. Drug related?
2. Personnel conflict in his office/or profit conflict for his side business ?
3. show off his rich?
4. the attacker must have a reason to do this, may be collect some money from someone else and don't even care why to attack him.... because in DR , this is very common practice: you pay money, you can even hire a killer to kill someone....
Is there nothing sacred?
i am glad this has happened it shows no one is safe... It is the Government and certain members that have benefited from the drug sales but EVERYONE will feel the repacations..... no one will be safe when this country falls deeper into a drug state...
Maybe he really did his job as Inspector General and got too close.
