SANTO DOMINGO.- "The early bird catches worm" is the popular saying which those who support ex president Hipólito Mejía have apparently adopted  in his new bid for office in the 2012 elections as giant billboards with the motto: “Because he resolves, he returns…Papá arrived" are already up along the Capital’s major avenues such as Duarte and Nicolas de Ovando.

Mejía’s ads come to the fore just days before the official launch of his bid for the nomination for the opposition PRD party and the former leader is expected to announce his reasons for again seeking the Presidency next Sunday in a rally slated for 9 a.m. in the Teo Cruz Coliseum.

In addition to Mejía, Miguel Vargas, Luis Abinader, Eligio Jáquez, Ramon Alburquerque and Guido Gomez Mazara dispute the PRD’s presidential candidacy.

That crazy donkey should retire from politics and let the younger intellectual generation lead the PRD that he ruined in his 4 years.

Yes the "older intellectuals" are all gone thanks to Balaguer ...now whatever intellectuals the country has, has to start from scratch...even if it's little progress.

the fact that this guy could even consider running again points to the sorry state of affairs in the country, politically. if he believes that anybody beyond his household takes him seriously, then he is sorely mistaken.

Fire sale:

All household furnishings, jeepeta, appliances, TV's and stereo equipment due to getting the hell out of Dodge.
Selling now just in case, later it will be too late, if Hipoloco has the slightest chance to return to power, and make another dumb versus dumber government.

We are not under any dictatorship ,,that is a totally falacious statement and the loans will be repaid or rolled over on a proper time frame ,,the economy is about the least of this country's problems but the legal system is primitive , Nothing would be better if we returnes to a rule by Mejia but a lot would be worse , in my opinion

Anyhow it doesn't matter what happens or who governs because at the current rate of immigration (invasion) we won't have a country and the Haitians will just work their wonders on the whole island!

Unless a president comes around that is will to seal the border and deport large numbers of ILLEGAL Haitians we are f'ed so Leonel or Hipolito does not make any difference.Only a truly Patriotic government willing to stand down the international community and the Dominican elites for a period of time can accomplish this ,otherwise all improvements are for the new tenants who have destroyed their own property and will do the same to ours!
