Santo Domingo.- Police agents assigned to INTERPOL arrested an Italian accused of international drug trafficking on the seaside avenue Malecon, and seized a penthouse, several businesses, SUVs, cars and bank certificates, valued at more than RD$100 million.
Police spokesman Nelson Rosario said Génise Antonio Rosario, who has a Dominican cedula, was arrested in a Land Cruiser SUV, carrying a Smith & Wesson 38 revolver with an expired license.
He said the agents acted on an arrest warrant issued by a Dominican judge and an INTERPOL capture order issued in Rome.
The police spokesman said the Italian had a banking certificate for €302,000 (RD$15.1 million); as well as apartment #1202 located in Malecon Center, valued at US$750,000 (RD$27.6 million) among other monetary documents and properties.

Sorry, once again, Italians (from Italy) are not Gringos.
Gringo is a term to describe Anglo whites from North America, especially the USA. Now Italian Americans/Italian Canedians may be considered Gringos because of the fact that they are North Americans of Italian decent, but the same could be true for any other European American, or even white North American Hispanics who lack the knowledge of Spanish. But again, this is predominantly used for white Anglos in NA. Italians, from Italy are not considered Gringos... heck many true Italians in the USA do not consider themselves as "white" as the anglo whites.
Well,now tell me why when I was to Cabarete the Dominicans call the French men from France and the Italians ``Gringo``

What could I say?, some of the "sanky pankies" in Cabarete are a bunch of uneducated and geography challenged folks who call Italians and French Gringos simply because they are "white", Unfortunately their ignorance may rub off on others, thus issuing the label to those that does not apply to.
A good part of my family are from Sosua, and although they may have confused foreign whites as gringos at first (because the first assumption is that the person is American) as soon as that person talks a non-anglo language, they go like "oh el Aleman (German), El Italiano, el France, etc, etc.)
