Santo Domingo.- Antinarcotics agents since last night look for a man identified only as Darío, in whose residence 100 kilos of pure cocaine were seized Monday afternoon.

The drug was found by a special Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) team in the house, located in the Alma Rosa sector.

The authorities didn’t announce any arrest for the 83 packages of cocaine. “The DNCD looks for a man named Darío, who is the drug’s presumed owner,” was the only statement issued on the confiscation of the narcotics.

How stupid do Dominican authorities think we are. They got this tip long ago; they likely had the place under surveillance; they saw who came in and out of the place, and they don't arrest anyone? They are either grossly incompetent, complictous and stupid. I believe latter.

I believe this is just a convenient transfer of goods and nothing would ever be heard of it again. They don't want to get rid of source, because they would need to replenish their supply in future.

President Obama, are you listening? Please revoke all visas from all Dominican political, judicial and miliatary officials, starting with LF-immediately. They are all worthless swine, unworthy of setting foot on USA soil. BTW, if Mucho Loco and Viva Cuba have visas, please revoke theirs as well.

glamar,

I think you are 50% correct in your thinking. I don't think they are that "STUPID" at all.

Think about it. They confiscate 100 kilos of pure cocaine and pay nothing for the goods. Then they step on it as Blu states and off to the market it goes.

Pure Profit.

They admitted to seizing 100 kilos.

DT should run a contest: "Guess how much they got."

Juanb,

The accurate conversion of 1 kilogram is equal to 2.204622622 pounds
For everyday usage, rounding to 2.2 should suffice.

So we are talking about 220 lbs of pure coka cola.

There are 453.59232 Grams in a Pound

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the street price of a gram of cocaine in 2005 was $20-$25 in New York, $30-$100 in Los Angeles and $100-$125 in Denver.

????
Questions here:
1. How does DNCD knows?
2. How does the guy "Dario" not in the house?

It seems DNCD arranges a lot of "INFORMERS" in a lot of places, But the worst part is:
"THERE ARE ALSO A LOT OF INFORMERS IN DNCD AND WORK FOR DRUG DEALERS"
....... leaking the news.........so, you run away, I make the money......

Something tells me that the reason there is no arrest in the "discovery" of these drugs is because it is very difficult to arrest yourself! Probably there are those in the government with a little bit of powder left on their upper lip that do not want to visit the nearest jail anytime soon!

It's obvious what took place. No law enforcement in their right mind goes in after drugs until the suspects return to where they are. Nobody leaves 100 kilos of pure coke unattended for a long time. Some official is involved it's obvious someone got paid off.

Veronica ..I totally agree with you .Either this story ,which has no source,is not totally correct or the authorities really think we are all have nothing between the ears.

Typical, the DNCD always find hundreds or thousands kilos of drugs and never arrest those who are trafficking it. they are all in this together!

El Profe:"According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the street price of a gram of cocaine in 2005 was $20-$25 in New York, $30-$100 in Los Angeles and $100-$125 in Denver."

This is the price for 6%-11% street toot. Let's say they were going to be generous and sell it on the street at 10% purity. That's a yield of a million grams of product. This may be the scariest article we've ever seen. We knew there was a problem but the size of this bust (assuming that noone puts all their eggs in one basket) is indicative of an unprecedented crisis. This much powder could only be moved with help from official sources.

(CNN) -- If current trends continue, Peru is poised to overtake Colombia as the world's top producer of coca, the plant used in the production of cocaine, according to a United Nations report released Tuesday.

The U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime's coca crop surveys for Bolivia, Colombia and Peru showed a 5 percent drop in the amount of coca being grown in the Andean countries, but Peru bucked the trend with a significant increase.

In Colombia, long the leader in cocaine production, cultivation of coca fell by 16 percent to 68,000 hectares, compared to the year before, the U.N. agency said. In the past 10 years, the decline is even greater, a 60 percent decrease, the report said.

In total, the report estimated that 410 metric tons of cocaine were produced in Colombia in 2009, a 9 percent decrease from 2008.

"The drug control policy adopted by the Colombian government over the past few years -- combining security and development -- is paying off," UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa said in a statement.

Part of the reason for the decrease in cultivation in Colombia is that growing the coca bush has become less profitable. According to UNODC, coca farmers in Colombia earn barely more than $1 a day.

In the Andean region as a whole, the amount of coca bush being grown fell from 167,000 hectares in 2008 to 158,000 hectares in 2009.

In Peru, however, coca cultivation increased 6.8 percent from 2008 to 59,900 hectares in 2009. According to UNODC, Peru has had a 55 percent increase in coca cultivation in the past 10 years.

"If the current trend continues, Peru will soon overtake Colombia as the world's biggest coca producer -- a notorious status that it has not had since the mid-1990s," Costa said.

"There are limits to what the Andean governments can do if people keep snorting cocaine,"
Costa said. "It is therefore up to governments in coke-consuming countries -- mostly in Europe and North America -- to take their share of responsibility and reduce demand for cocaine," Costa said.

It is too convenient the "owner" was not apprehended.

The authorities know where this guy is !!! If the "owner" had molested the daughter of a general he would be in jail, if not dead for resisting arrest. This is an island and nothing happens without the authorities ( the good and bad ) knowing: who, what, when, where, and how.
