Santo Domingo.- Ecuador troops won the military exercises "Commando Force 2010" began last week in Santo Domingo with soldiers from 20 mostly Latin American countries, a Dominican Republic Armed Forces spokesman told Efe today.
After Ecuador’s 1,386 points, Argentina Army troops were second with 1,334 points; United States (1,330 points); Colombia (1,307); Chile (1,273) and Peru (1,243).
"For us this performance fills us with great pride because it shows our soldiers’ professionalism, who in fact were able to balance technique with physical training during the exercise," Ecuador Defense Deputy minister general Luis Grazon told Efe.
He said his country’s troops who performed well in the maneuvers belong to the Special Operations Group, that among other functions monitors the Ecuador-Colombia border, an area with the presence of Colombia’s Farc guerrillas. Our soldiers in the North border train daily, and are alert to what occurs in Colombia."
The war games staged from June 16 to 23 gathered more than 500 soldiers and police in a show of skills such as marksmanship, obstacle course, forced march, swimming, the handling of boats, among others.
Soldiers from Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guayana, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States and Uruguay took part in the training coordinated with the US Southern Command, and will be held in El Salvador next year.

FUNNY!! I was just thinking of Ecuador, I was watching the Ecuadorian news and It seemed like if every picture was taken in the USA. All government commercial vehicles were brand new ford f150's and they had modern fire departments and the government officials had college vocabulary while 90% of DR's officials manage to get there point across with a fifth grade level . The infrastucture was upto date. Ecuador is doing good for her people. I remeber in the 80's, how immergrants from ecuador was mentioning how bad it was. Now 25 yrs latter, they are doing real good, from what i see. Now look, they beat the USA, Argentina and Chile. It must be a good thing that DT didn't post the Dominican Military's collective score, it would have been embarrassing. While ecuadors military wears Military Ballistic helmets and full camo the dominicans wear coconut shells on there heads and spraypaint leaves on mechanic overalls and wear white sneackers on there feet instead of military spec boots.

Those are "excersises"...they mean nothing...does anyone honestly believe that Ecuadors' armed forces are more professional than the USA's? Puh-lease. And the USA came in third.

Cantave - I admire your thoughts but let me humbly make a comment about the 82nd Airborne and Semper Fidelis. The 82nd Airborne is an Army Regiment based out of Ft Bragg NC and Semper Fidelis is the Marine Corps Motto.
If you ever went up to a Marine and asked him if he was from the 82nd Airborne he would shove his combat boot so far up your rear end you would need a dentist to remove it.
It is very obvious that the US government did not send a unit of the caliber of the 82nd Airpborne or from the Marine Expeditionary force... not did they send from the select units in the US (Seals, Delta Force or Rangers) because the Equadorians would still have their head spinning as well as the balance of the countries attending the war games.
However - your comments are well noted and well intentioned.

They are my brothers,we served together in Fallujah,we are all american warriors and I like their motto.
semper fidelis.(Always Faithful)
The 82nd airborne- a specialized division (airborne) in the army who's job it is to jump outa planes behind enemy lines, assault and capture an objective, and hold and defend it on their own (most of the time fully surrounded) for at least 3 days with no support at all. its also our job to be a quick reaction force.
marines- a conventional branch of the military whos job it is to do amphibious assaults on beaches as well as do expeditionary missions.
82nds response time- anywhere in the world in 18 hours.
marines- any beach int he world in 24 hours.
if you really need something that you can use to compare them: falluja. 82nd takes it and holds on to it for a year. hands it off to marines. marines lose it in a month, fail to take it back on their own, calls the army to take it back for them.
We love them, they are our brothers.
I still say that they should have held the exercises on the border.
