Santo Domingo. - The navies of Dominican Republic and Colombia, and the United States Southern Command host the “2nd Maritime Symposium Against Drug Trafficking in the American Continent,” from today to Thursday, in Bayahíbe, Altagracia province.
Navy Chief of staff vice-admiral Luis Homero Lajara will head the event, in which navy commanders and delegates from 30 Latin American and European countries will take part.
The symposium aims to analyze drug traffic king’s new challenges in the region, as well as to design strategies to effectively fight it and curtail the different routes and means of transport it uses, as part of the bilateral cooperation.
The activity also looks to boost relations between the participant countries and promote international cooperation via an agreement to consolidate the installation the International Maritime Center Against Drug Trafficking, based in Cartagena, Colombia, an initiative that country’s Navy proposed in the 1st Symposium in September, 2008.
Geographic position
Most of the nations were invited for their geographic location relative to the shipping lanes used by drug traffickers, from South American cocaine and heroin production zones to storage and distribution centers, prior to their destination markets.
The participant nations expect the event will bolster the regional and bilateral mechanisms of cooperation and coordination, and the capacity to effectively confront the crime, which has become public enemy number one of the safety of human beings and of nations.

Put the users in jail. In the US, that's good business. Private jails like Wackenhut create employment and save the Government money.
Execute the pushers, dealers and traders. Asian model.
No need to buy boats. Put the US military to work in every school, park, on street corners, everywhere.US territory is the main battle ground.
If there is to be a war on drugs, it's OK to talk the talk, but walk the frickin walk.

No apology necessary. The U.S. is determined to gain control of the drug monopoly. Only approved shippers that "pay their cut" are permitted to pass.

Telemeco sums it up well. US needs stronghold on Colombia exports. D.R. is shipping lane. U.S. requires additional "filter" in D.R. to increase CIA/Mafia Banker stronghold momentum. Legitimate Militaries are strongarm to uphold US Government Mafia grip.
