Santo Domingo.- One minor missing and presumed dead, one bridge collapsed, more than 100 flooded houses and washed out roads were reported from the downpours in the last the 24 hours nationwide.

The missing boy, as yet identified, was swept away by the swelled Haina river in the community of the same name, said Jose Ceballos, head of Civil Defense in the Valdesia region. “Civil Defense rescue teams and the Haina Fire Department try to locate the minor who fell into the river, but so far the efforts have been useless.”

He said in San Cristóbal province’s Moscu district, 60 families were evacuated from their flooded houses, of a total of 103 other affected in that area.

The National Meteorology Office continues its floods and landslide warnings for the residents in low-lying areas next to rivers, streams and gorges in central, south-central and eastern provinces.
