SANTO DOMINGO.- The CEO of the State-owned Power Companies (CDEEE), said today called the country electricity industry a mafia second only to drug trafficking, and demanded more efficiency by the country’s energy distributors, to reduce unnecessary expenses.
The statement from Celso Marranzini comes just days after it was learned that while the energy crisis persists, he has increased the salaries of CDEEE “advisers,” to the point that one of them earns more than the CEO himself.
He said the distributors are inefficient and neither bill nor install meters for their customers to his users, for which they cannot expect to bring about an increase in collections.
He advised them that “for 2012 there’ll be no subsidy.”
He revealed cases of contractors who visit a house as many as six times without completing the installation of the meter, and so charge for a higher number of visits. “Those who don’t understand they are harming the country, must look for something else to do.”
Interviewed on Teleantillas, Marranzini said before accepting the post, which he affirmed assured “doesn’t need”, he knew he would be attacked strongly by some sectors, but didn’t specify.
As to the CDEEE advisers he said there were 152 during the tenure of Radhames Segura who got paid tax-free for just 68 hours of work monthly, whereas the 11 current ones work more than 160 hours per month for lower salaries with tax deductions.
Marranzini added that the Inter-American Development Bank demanded three of the advisers.

Ignore the ladrons.
The salary increase to advisers is part of the 45%.
I am in the process of dealing with the electricity company in the capital and what surprises me is the high deposit required ..far more than most Dominican families could afford and I see the temptations to steal electricity.
I was unaware that much work is being conducted by subcontractors and even more surprised that there is not a set rate for simply installing a meter and connecting it to the nearest line ..sounds strange .
Please tune out the inept and corrupt coackroaches in our society. You are by far our best hope.
Celso for president.
Under Rsegura there was one adviser (among the thousands ripping us off) with the following deal:
He was paid 300,000RD for 68 hours of work per month. If he worked more than 68 hours in a month, for each additional hour he was paid TWELVEHUNDRED DOLLARS. He made about 6,000,000RD per year.
Thanks to Celso he is one one of many LEECHES gone from the public teat.
