SANTO DOMINGO. - Armed Forces minister Pedro Rafael Peña confirmed Friday that four senior officers of unspecified branches are being interrogated in the Antinarcotics Agency (DNCD) compound, for allegedly plotting to murder the relatives of the chiefs of Police and of the DNCD.

He said the officers will be fired and will face charges if investigators uncover some link to drug trafficking organizations and hired killers.

Peña said the highest ranking officer among the detainees is a lieutenant colonel, on is a major and two others of lower rank, but didn’t provide names.

Since the start of the week local media have reported the investigation of the officers, for their alleged links to the ring headed by the Puerto Rican murder convict Jose Figueroa Agosto.

You may notice on the other article on this story , that there was absolutely no sympathy for the innocent family members .I assume because of the mistrust and dislike of the two chiefs .
The terrorists and murders, who plan to kill innocent people simply to scare the officials, deserve to receive the maximum penalty and an example will be set to all others who plan such crimes.
And for those who give this statement a minus ..you are no better than the criminals themselves.

The Dominican justice system is a total embarrassment.

Only the poor and helpless go to jail.

What a bunch of clowns.

Like I said before not that it happens, that you have "SENIOR" officers, But remember that a LTC in the DR has about the intellect of a SSG in the US ARMY. I would say 2nd Lt, but you have to have a college degree (mostly) to be an officer in the USA.
I was in San Isidro recently and the guy that runs the fuel truck (if you could call that a truck) is a 60 year old MAJOR . That would be an E-4 corporal (specialist) in the USA.
