Sabana Iglesia, Dominican Republic.- The Sabana Iglesia City Council  passed a resolution declaring persona non grata two drug dealers and expelled them from the community.

Pablo Batista, mayor of the Santiago province town called the resolution unprecedented and that Sabana Iglesia has been the country’s only City Council to adopt a measure of that magnitude.

He said since he became mayor in 2007 community and religious leaders, neighborhood organizations and other institutions began an aggressive campaign against drug trafficking and consumption, and warned 30 pushers to halt their activities or leave, because the municipal authorities and the community were ready to free themselves of that evil.

The official said the two who didn’t heed their warning were declared non grata by Resolution and expelled from the community.

But Batista affirms that the municipality’s drug pushers are now National Police agents whose names hid didn’t reveal, and fears for his and his family’s safety after his denunciation. “I must warn that in the event of any physical aggression against me or a member of my family, I have written a document where I explain this and many more things blaming three people if something happens to me.”

IT'S A DAMN SHAME! That the two remaining police agents are the only remaining drug dealers. But hey, I guess we are not surprised because it makes sense and corresponds to everything else we know. Of course, the only ones surprised will be the US DEA and the RD Police Chief and especially DNCD agents who have been missing out on the action ($).

It is great however, that this town took a stand and wanted to save its town and especially its young people to keep the focused on education, family and goals rather than becoming drug addicts (due to freebies from pushers in order to make new addicts). The bigger ripple effect also undermines the community when you have poor kids who already have it bad... but later with an addiction need to commit crimes to support a drug habit.

This town showed leadership which is something we do not see enough of at the national level (either in the RD nor the USA).

Even our own leadership in the USA needs to get tougher and proactive.

I applaud this town for doing what they have to. It is unbelievable that now the police are the town's only drug dealers. The council should tell LF he needs to clean up the police in this town. We all know he won't because he has to be involved in all of this drug trade the way he looks the other way on all of it. This will leave the town with the only option of performing justice on it's own. We are a completely failed state and until the masses either get together and launch a country wide riot or a we eradicate our corrupt leadership by force we will never rid ourselves of this behavior.

Here we have a media outlet telling exactly what is going on and our leadership looks the other way. LF you are a failure as a leader and a human being. May God have mercy on your soul!
