Santo Domingo.– The government has already increased the tax that is paid on fuels, which can be seen when the resolutions from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce from last week and this week are compared, stated Juan Hubieres, president of Fenatrano.

According to the head of the bus owners, the government already raised premium and regular gasoline and all the diesel types by a peso. "This can be proven by comparing both resolutions, where in the past they charged RD$47 (pesos in tax) and now they get RD$48," he said.

He accused the government of increasing the taxes outside the Constitution and beyond what the law states regarding indexation every three months.

Dear Mr. Hubieres,

Please be advised that the PLD under Leonel will do what ever they want even if it is outside of the constitution. The Dr constitution is one of the few papers that is written in pencil so that changes can be made at will.

the guy si not bad at all, he is one of th few if any with some balls to stand up to this corrupt government. why do people hate him so much? because when he makes a stand or starts a protest some innocent people end up getting hurt. which i think it's wrong also. he uses the lower class of society to carry out his deeds which are people who are careless and not too educated. that's why it turns into chaos. i hate it when i used get to go to work and next thing yo know ther is transportation strike and have to find other means to get to work but hey sometimes we have to sacrifice in order to see results, in those times we should jion the cause and make teh gov feel the pain remember united we stand, divided we fall.
now i'm well aware the he needs to get his ass out on the street and improve the quality of the transportation 100%

blue, don't get me wrong i wouldn't vote for guy for even a seat in the toilet, but when you have someone who stands up to the gov, you have to give him his props. if it weren't for those strikes in the last few years we would be paying maybe 40 pesos in bus fares, there all goons, we just have to know when to use them in our favor and when not to. believe me i've seen his work first hand, he has his thugs go on the bus asking the riders their destination, if 1 rider is not going to the route of the bus they will break the windshield and in some cases jump the driver for picking up riders outside their routs and take his money. something that boils my blood but when you have the gov stiff you when ever they want and make up their own laws only to benefit their interest its even worse.

It is OK for him to send his goons out to eliminate a union leader who protested his charging a higher than arranged price for leader's bus after the government gave tax exemptions.

No complaint from Hubieres about the tax exemption but there was an issue because he did not want negative feedback from an unhappy union leader that would cut into his illicit funding schemes.

He doesn't stand up to the government.

Through the use of violence and blackmail he has brought the authorities to their knees.

I can not believe that anyone could support a criminal thug simply because he allegedly stands up to the government on an issue that affects his criminal union ..I hope we have progressed past that :!!

From: Dominican Republic, I dislike all politicians and their afiliated parties... "I simply say it AS IT IS!!"
So sad to know a Dominican person, well maybe he is not Dominican and that's why he/she is talking about a man he does not know anything about.

This man is worse than Chavez, Fidel, Pinochet, and Trujillo together.

Dude, you don't know what you are talking about...
