Santo Domingo.-  The National District Permanent Attention Court will hear a request today to temporarily incarcerate retired Police general Ricardo Emilio Rodriguez Taveras and Héctor Ramirez Pinedo (Come Hoyo), accused of shooting a man in the restaurant Tony Roma's in the capital.

The National District Office of the Prosecutor requested the measure against the accused, charged together with his friend Ramirez, who had argued over a high debt clamed by the victim Eliezer Salvador (El Shey), injured in the ensuing shootout at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Rodriguez is accused of firing several times and injuring Salvador after the struggle with Ramirez.

Yes, but if LF is wise this may be the most opportune time to throw these guys under the bus. Make an example that their days are numbered. and the same in other sectors of the government. Slash and burn.

"Retired" military and police should not carry firearms.

Except in very special cases, civils should not be issued licences to carry firearms except from the gunshop to their residence.

Unauthorized bearing of firearms should be 3 years in jail automatic.

But of course, that would be in a "normal" country.

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Santo Domingo night before last.
I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend, threatening our lives. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.
First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment; I didn't expect you to actually crap in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 A CP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head ... isn't it?!

Macho with authority. Who wishes to continue living in a society where this crap happens all to frequently? What if he killed an innocent patron at the Rest ? He should be jialed for 20 years just for being STUPID ! If this is the metality of most of the Military/PN/Law Enforcement in the DR, GOD help the few good souls of the DR.

I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].

After I called your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as well as those of four other people in the gas station, -- on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful!
I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]
I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car.

Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what 's going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target.
The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.).
In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider, the career path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky.

Thoughtfully yours,
P.S. Remember this motto ... An armed society makes for a civil socierty

He was used to killing whoever he wanted before he retired.

Why should anything change after he retired?

I do not think the story is accurate ,,,the police general was placed on the retirement list some years ago and was put back onto active service by Leonel , acting on advice.
The victim had won more than 20 million pesos at gambling in the Melia Casino from Ramirez who would not pay the debt. The police general is a friend of Ramirez. The victim was lured to the restaurant as Ramirez wanted to pay only a smaller amount . As the victim approached the restaurant he was shot by the police general two times , once being in the back . This is from various sources,
My reaction to this is that the Police general should remain in prison until his trial , should immediately suspended from the police force and after being found guilty for attempted murder, he should be imprisoned for 10 years, dismissed from the police force and lose all pension rights

Yes, if the armed members have the moral and mental capacity to carry a firearm.

You'd never read a story like this about a cop from NYC, Toronto, Paris, much less Tokyo.
