Santo Domingo.– The National District 2nd Instruction Court judge Claribel Nivar resumes today the trial against Sobeida Felix Morel and the others indicted on money laundering and narcotics trafficking charges, who belonged to the network that ran Jose Figueroa Agosto.
The
hearing will be continued next Friday while the other hearings will take place September 6, 7, 10 and 13, according to the timetable agreed by
the judge, representatives of prosecutors and defense attorneys.
Last
Friday, the judge rejected the extradition request from Figueroa Agosto.

Does anyone feel the same way as I feel? It seems like Sobeida is happy , even waving her hands to someone.
Why?
1. She is shameless.
2. She knows that DR is lawless country, she will serve quick jail time and then enjoy her millions of dollars.
3. Even her attorney was deported from the US by narcotic charges and can represent her for narcotic charges. Criminal represent criminal, what are you expecting?

Highly interesting the prosecutor and judge would not be interested in the testimony of the main man.
Hell, if the Americans won´t make him available here as a witness, the Court and its officers should request a rogatory commission, so the whole circus would be travelling to Borinquen to hear Figueroa.
We all know why nobody, not even the judge, is interested in the truth.
This is why Sobada is smiling: she knows the Dominican justice system, also called the case-crusher, will work for her.

Goodness -- why would they let her keep such long nails while in prison? Not only does that pose a threat to her, but it poses a threat to the other prisoners. What it is with us Dominincans? Why do such basic concepts escape us? It's not like we haven't been running jails forever.

According to medium scale industrial leaders, government officials, in their fiscal eagerness, have made a mistake in calculations of the cash flow that they would get through the payment of the prepayment of ITBIS (VAT) on imported raw materials and machinery in Customs. The Association of the Industrial Businesses in Haina (AEIH) and the Federation of Industrial Associations (FAI) say that the people who drew up the project mixed up the ITBIS tax delivered by ProIndustria with the exonerated tax from the Tariff Act, creating the expectation of obtaining a cash flow of RD$5 billion.

The presidents of the business associations, Wadi Cano Acra and Ignacio Mendez said that this incorrect estimate "led the fiscal wing of the administration to create a revenue mirage and the Ministry of Hacienda to undertake actions against the Law of Industrial Innovation and Competitiveness." According to Listin Diario the two men said that pressures from the IMF, in the midst of a difficult situation affecting public finances, the sponsors of the plan did not see that they were dealing with the wrong statistical data, since the real cash flow that might be obtained is barely RD$2 billion a year.
In net terms they were dealing with a prepayment of ITBIS in Customs of less than RD$200 million, that in just one month would not enter the Internal Tax Department, but with no effect after the first 30 days. They said that they were sorry that the IMF pressure led the officials to make such a mistake and to violate the ProIndustria law.
