Santo Domingo.- The Secretary General of the ruling PLD party affirmed today that the release on bail a the group charged with embezzling millions in the Customs Agency in Santiago was requested by that jurisdiction’s Appellate Court president and doesn’t reflect a change in the Government’s anticorruption policy.
Reinaldo Pared clarified that a judge ordered the release, and wasn’t obliged to accept the request filed by Assistant DA Vielka Calderón as established by the Penal Procedural Code.
He said the government hasn’t intervened in favor of the suspects, two of whom are sons of senior PLD leaders in Santiago.
Ex Customs sub-collector Adalberto Rosa Rosario, Miguel Ángel Lazala and Gerard Estévez Peña are accused of embezzling millions by allowing merchants to introduce containers without the customs checks, but were each released on a two million peso bond.

Like anyone believes you, other than your thieving friends.
Now it is 2 "two of whom are sons of senior PLD leaders in Santiago"
It does NOT represent a change in the government's anticorruption policy.
Considering that the policy is to aid, abet, and ignore all corruption at every level, this is in keeping with the direction of our empty suit, "Zero Tolerance" President.
Oh no? Wait until Ric chimes in.
I think Ric is waiting for his paycheck from Leonel to clear his bank before he promotes the PLD some more.
There ain't nothing one can do, it's in the blood.
