WASHINGTON.- The White House yesterday identified around 20 countries, 13 from Latin America among them, as the large drug producers or trafficking platforms, in a memo sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In the memo president Barack Obama, who also announced that Bolivia and Venezuela are countries that fail to meet in a "demonstrable manner" their international commitments to fight drugs, but will maintain the programs top assist them.

As the Foreign Relations Authorization Law stipulates, the President of the U.S. every year must notify the world’s countries considered important drug producers or for the transit of narcotics. Identified in this occasion were Afghanistan, Bahamas, Bolivia, Burma, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua join this year’s list, whereas Brazil and Paraguay weren’t listed.

Sabotage is a deliberate action aimed at weakening another entity through subversion, obstruction, disruption, or destruction. In a workplace setting, sabotage is the conscious withdrawal of efficiency generally directed at causing some change in workplace conditions. One who engages in sabotage is a saboteur. As a rule, saboteurs try to conceal their identities because of the consequences of their actions. For example, whereas an environmental pressure group might be happy to be identified with an act of sabotage, it would not want the individual identities of the perpetrators known.

This Narco business has been Global for many decades and small nations like the DR have great difficulties dealing with big time money. Look at Costa Rica, a nation far better managed and organized, yet it too finds itself on the list. The US should publish a list of the leading Consumer nations, too. I doubt the US does not take the cake in that study; with Europe a close second. Some legalization and other market solutions need to be considered. The problem will never be solved for sure, but at least some of its black market potential would be cut and taxed for general public debt payments and treatment programs.

As it was said by Manuel Noriega on the issue of illegal drugs "there is something truly wrong with the gringo soul" but nobody wants to talk about that.

The fact that Haiti is still on that list clearly show the purpose of this report for anybody with boots on the ground know Damn well since the Depart of Aristide and the extaditions to Miami of various traffickers and government officials the game have shifted to the eastern side of the island, hence the major influx of narcotic activities in DR and a major shift in destination from Miami to Europe via Spain.

But Pat I truly doubt that with all the disorganization post earthquake in Haiti that some people aren't taking advantage of the situation.

Who cares about this US list? Why would this be important? The DR should make its own list of major purchasers. Biggest drug markets.

ElFactor, not negative, it is called objective.

Here is another one.

The DR should be on the transparent, pathologically corrupt, ill educated moron list.

objective, adjective

not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion.

The US should be on its own list, since at any given time, there are more illegal drugs on their territory than in any country of the world.

hellborn25, it has NOTHING to do with hatred.

Dominican authorities do despicable corrupt things and do it transparently and with impunity.

The other three quarters of the population does NOTHING. And it appears to me that they are just waiting to get their turn to be despicable.

Stop blaming other countries because it happens there, DO SOMETHING.

ElFactor, I would rather be a Haitian than an ignorant, prejudice, inept moron like you.

What are you, ten years old?

Oh, I forgot, a Dominican education only gets you a second grade education. Then that entitlement macho mentality kicks in.

Your country is an embarrassment, grow up and do something.

so who is to Blame, the one who sprays its nose or the one that carries and produces the spray???

This list is just another one of the ridiculus and stupid ways the USA sometimes "Clasifies" us, like the "almighty judge" that sees everything but their own rotten core...that's why nobody gives a Sh... about this ranking, CAUSE IS MISSING the main THING!

As stated above i ALSO would like to see a ranking of the World's more Dopped, Drugged and weeded countries, we can se a familiar face as NUMBER ONE...

airgordo, I can assure you I am much less tactful in my own country.

If I see issues I take pictures, if I read issues I respond and support like minded people.

The majority of the DR could vote these opportunists out of their feathered nests and send some to jail. But the DR government keeps them uneducated and gives them a chicken to vote for them.

ElFactor, only supports my statements. He has access to the internet and all he can do is spew vial prejudices and someone gives him a +. What a joke.

Tact definition, a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense

Afghanistan because the United States Military is growing it there. They shouldn't complain cause these countries are propping up the failed state's economy at the direction of said failed state. Don't bite the hand that feeds it.

No it IS NOT, because i DO NOT fail to recognize the failures that have been increased exponentially under this Goverment, i accepted All the crap that you said about MY COUNTRY, now i am asking you and ANY one that agrees, WHAT is your country doing, since your goverment thinks it has the right to certify other countries, i want to know WHAT is been done to erradicate the DOPING and DRUGGING culture of YOUR society, is a Simple answer that NO ONE has delivered yet as it is easier just to throw crap on to the DR and other countries than come clean and begin by accepting that the BIGGEST responsible on the whole world for the drugs is the USA.

Capitalisim has market rules, no? so if there no demand for a product, what would happen to that product??

USA goverment and whoever agrees with this kind of "certification" should ALWAYS be aware of the ORIGIN of this busines
