Santo Domingo. - Two majors and a sergeant of the National Police were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the cousins Vladimir Paulino Consuegra and Marcos Figueroa Ferreira, both found beheaded two weeks ago in an alleged shakedown of five kilos of heroin.

Both had allegedly stolen the drug by swapping a suitcase in which the heroin would be sent from Las Americas International Airport to Spain.

The authorities have yet to locate the drug and whom would take it aboard the plane still hasn’t been determined, but did uncover that the heads of a network of “mules” who take drugs to Spain discovered the attempted shakedown.

The beheaded youngsters had changed the suitcase for a similar one in the airport, took the drug and upon returning to Santo Domingo, were intercepted by its owners who kidnapped and killed them with one shot to the head each and then beheaded them.

The Police and the Drugs Control Agency look into the agents’ potential accomplices with airport security entities, including the Airport Security Service.

Ferreira had arrived from Puerto Rico two months ago where he resided with his father. Their bodies were found Saturday of last week in a farm on the highway to Nizao (south).

gmiller you're spot on once again. Gotta love the DR, another Mexico wanna be. I look for more of this crap in the months to come. LF has no desire to make any waves, as he is a typical greedy payaso lining his pockets daily, like most politicos in the DR (and around the world).

On another note, I wonder who his Air Charter Service company rep is and how he is related to LF or La Gorda ! That person is making a killing on commissions.booking all his GV flights!!! What a life !!!

I would love to see LF chastised at the UN convention with questions of people asking what hes doing about the massive drug trade and corruption problem that he seems to be looking the other way from.

Comparisons to Mexico are really not valid when speaking of the police.
Here in the DR, the police are true criminals. Not the same as in Mexico.
Granted, the narco trade is similar and the mayhem associated identical.
However, I do not think the police in Mexico are as horrible....a shot to the head and then de-capitated? I think the DR police are sometimes worse than the narco guys.

Perhaps it's progress that the three policemen were arrested by the police, which I assume might not have happened in the past in such cases.

Escott,

No government job or connection, no party affiliation, just 42 years of involvement with the DR and Dominicans -- trying to figure out a rather complicated and fascinating country and people in the midst of rapid societal change. You'll never figure things out if you always have the same answer to everything.
