That's a start.

This is the law, and if our esteemed leaders are not willing to observe the laws how can we ask anyone else to observe them (look around you, they don't). A small start but a start, no less. Now I would like to see someone investigate the source of the legislator's wealth.

It would seem that SOMEONE in a position of authority and power o the purse is taking a stand against those who think they are in position to defy the law they themselves have made.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if this attitude and action on the part of authority were to filter from top o bottom?
It is in such a manner that a nation becomes a true nation, and not just a bunch of theives, masquerading as "lawmakers" comes into being.
Every nation must go through a period of growth in order to gain the respect of others. This action, by authority, shows that there are forces working to rectify past complacencies and to replace them with positive actions.
One step, no matter how small, is in theright direction if followed by increasing that step into running for the goal of good government.

None of these guys are apt to eliminate all their kudos unless they are forced to do so by an irate and vindictive public.
As long as the public accepts and silicits the kickbacks, the free chickens, the tin roofs, and the rediculous rhetoric of the politicians at election time, the corruption, the thievery of public funds will go on and on.
Its up to the public to deny the legislators the ability and the consent given them by the public to do the things they do without recourse before it will stop.
Blame yourselves for the corruption in government, because you allow it and condone it. Quit whining about it all and do something about it.

25!!!! That number is rather hight, especially in such a small country.

Well, I guess they figured that the money they are stealing is far better than the salary, so they'll be working for "free" now.

Just a thought that might solve this problem;

Require that the financial statement required be filed and current BEFORE THE LAWMAKERS CAN BE SEATED OFFICIALLY.
Maybe that would "hurry-up" the required filings since the lawmakers couldn't draw a paycheck before being seated.
Think hat would do the trick???
