D.R like most carribean nations and the Americas had slaves. We did not have alot of slaves compare to Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba or Brazil but the mere fact is that we had slaves. I must also mentioned that in the early 1900's alot of English Carribean people migrated to the D.R (San Pedro de Macoris) on contracts to cut down caines for the sugar factories & some stayed & married & had children with Dominican women. I must also mentioned that during the Haitian occupation of D.R alot of white Dominicans fled for Cuba, Puerto Rico & Grand Columbia ( Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil etc) because of Haitian's extreme brutality towards white Dominicans & they killed alot of white Dominicans. President Jean Pierre Boyer & others invited free African American slaves to make the nation darker in complexion.

I noticed that during daylight hours (but not between 11:30 and 3pm) at well known locations Amet stands ready to take the bike away from someone not wearing a helmet. They do so by having a lead man with t radio and a back man with a club to knock you off the bike if you choose not to stop.
Unfortunately not to many are ready to stand in front of an $80,000 SUV, erratically passing and speeding, drinking a beer, talking on the phone and with the seatbelt undone....just in case he has to get out and piss on the street.... who's driver can probably buy and sell them.
I find it really funny though...that in the name of safety (which I think is the purpose of the helmet)...none of the other 4 people on the bike are required to wear one.

Wow... these comments really got off the subject.
I agree with those that say that this is a poorly written article by crediting the Vietnam war training as the reason of the sucess. First, The headline of the article makes it sound as if it was a recent training. Then as I read on and saw the Vietnam war part I had to try hard to not choke on my lunch because of the chuckle. Second, this war ended nearly 40 years ago, if those who trained on the infantry for this was are so full of organization, Honor and discipline, why are Vietnam vets some of the most F&$KED UP veterans of all time?
As for the revenue. I hope they start paying thse officers a decent salary. They will probably double their revenue since officers, making a decent salarty, would be less prone to bribes.

Most show off with thier vehicles and SUV's that in my opinion are inferior to the ones that I see the rich exhibits around here and other parts of the world and feel as if the police can not stop them or should not stop them. I agree with those that say that this is a poorly written article by crediting the Vietnam war training as the reason of the sucess. First, The headline of the article makes it sound as if it was a recent training. Then as I read on and saw the Vietnam war part I had to try hard to not choke on my lunch because of the chuckle.
