Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez yesterday instructed Assistant DAs of the National District and San Cristóbal offices of the Prosecutor to conduct a sweeping investigation of the row between the prosecutor of the Santiago Appellate Court and the prosecutor of that same jurisdiction.

The case stems from the arrest of several Customs Agency officials on charges of embezzlement, which pitted Santiago prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso against Santiago Court of Appeals prosecutor Vielka Calderón, who is allegedly related to one of the accused.

“Via this means, we courteously instruct you to conduct a deep and exhaustive investigation into the events that have generated a public controversy between the Prosecutor of the Santiago Court of Appeal and the prosecutor of that same judicial district,” the missive says.

The instructions were issued through Frank Soto, head prosecutor for Drug Trafficking and Complex Crimes, as well as by Juan Cedano Santana and Jesus Fernandez Vélez, of the National District and San Cristóbal appellate courts, respectively.

Go and make another joke in DR Judicial system again.

L-F wants Santo domingo to be another little NY, he should know it is day dreaming for him. If he wants to reach that objective, educate your people including government officials first what is honesty and transparency of your systems.

i like it. instructing some assistant DA to conduct an inquiry into an egregious case of malfeasance. maybe they should consider turning the matter over to some serious high officials, or a commission of inquiry..what am i saying? i forgot where i am.

Careful my pretty one, these ruthlessness thugs are was legendary. They oppose many honest politicians, judges and policemen.

those that refuse the influence are met with “plata o plomo,”

Like Pablo liked to say: " the silver or lead."

Bang bang

Grosero, you are very insightful. these guys resort to pragmatic solutions. people have to accept the reality that the Dominican Republic is not the democracy they imagine it to be, and that tall buildings and 4 lane highways do not equate modernity. socially, there has been no change in thinking since the Trujillo days. it is still a feudal state, and human life means nothing. they would wipe her out in a heartbeat if they thought she could occasion problems for the wealthy and connected.
