BRAZILIA.- As part of his visit to Brazil to observe the campaign of the Workers Party candidate Dilma Rousseff, the Dominican Republic’s ruling PLD party presidential hopeful Danilo Medina met with president Luis Inazio Lula da Silva in her campaign headquarters.
Medina asked Lula to explain his success as president of his country and his consequent high popularity among the population.
The chief executive said the success in eight years in office stems by a vision of understanding that no country can reach development if its citizens don’t have purchasing power, which led his government to concentrate on incorporating 24 million poor to the consumption market.

Lula can not be reelected by law, but if he could, he would win by a landslide again. His popularity stems also from the fact that he does not have a higher education or law degree, like many politicos,
and certainly does not flaunt the fact, like most politicos.
Danilo could be and excellent choice if LF leaves the playing field, and is a much better manager and hands on technocrat. On the down side, he needs to work on his spoken delivery and cadence rythm.
Well said, if people have no money how can they rise in living standards... Well done Lula, Medina... Take out your notepad and start writing. SOCIALISM...
