Santo Domingo.- A poll published yesterday by the Asisa Research Group predicts that president Leonel Fernández, ex-president Hipólito Mejía and Amable Aristy Castro would win the internal nomination processes of their respective parties, the PLD, PRD and PRSC.

According to field work between 27 and 30 December based on 1,900 surveys taken across the whole country, if president Fernández decides to run for re-election he will obtain 74%, a wide margin over his nearest challenger Danilo Medina with 16.1%, as well as the First Lady, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, who will get 7.9% while the other pre-candidates will receive 2%.

If Fernández does not run, Medina would get 39.8%, Cedeño de Fernández, 32.5%, while José Tomás Pérez would obtain 3.3%, Francisco Domínguez Brito, 2.3% and VP Rafael Alburquerque would receive 1.3% of the vote.

In the PRD, Mejía would beat Miguel Vargas Maldonado with 56% against 43% of preferences, with 1% of those surveyed undecided. If Aristy Castro puts himself forward as a PRSC pre-candidate he would get 60% in the primaries, against 40% by Carlos Morales Troncoso.

Hipolito probably had dirt on everybody and his brother.

He could have taken down his own government and most of Leonel's.

Remember, the US jails are in overpop.

Couldn't possibly fit that many criollos de un solo tiro.

So at best, they're expecting vacancies.

NO MATTER WHO GETS INTO OFFICE BE NICE IF DOMINICANS WILL GET THE LUZ?1,000 LIVE 1/2 THIER LIVES IN THE DARK WHY? PLEASE READ BELOW ABOUT THE 131 YEARS.

Electric Chair Timeline:
1880 - Most state laws provide for capital punishment, usually by hanging.
Unfortunately, hangmen's ignorance produced horrific scenes of slow
strangling deaths and gruesome decapitations.

1881 - Dr. Albert Southwick, a dentist and former steamboat engineer,
sees elderly drunkard touch terminals of electrical generator in Buffalo, New York.
He is amazed at how quickly and apparently painlessly the man is killed and describes episode to friend State Senator David McMillan.

1881 - McMillan speaks to Governor David B. Hill.
Hill asks state legislature to consider how modern
day electricity might replace hanging.

1882 - Thomas Edison was the first person to establish himself in electrical utility industry with DC service.

1886 - AC technology

It seems that the Dominican people still want Leonel in spite of the constitutional restrain upon a third term. This result will most certainly encourage Leo to run again

SURE LOOKS THAT WAY AS OF TODAY.

Just wait...sooner or later Leonel will throw his cap in the ring saying it is not his desire to run for a third term but the "will of the people" All this publicity is aimed in this direction.

So once again we are given the choice of death by hanging, death bystarvation, or death by stupidity. You can assign whatever qualities you want to whcihever candidate you choose. The result is still death.

Are we so pitiful that this is the best that we can do?

I very much doubt if any of the three will stand for President ...already there are signs along the roads for other candidates ..Amable would not even win again in his electorate of Higuey so has no chance ..everyone believes Hipolito is one step from being senile and Leonel would need to break the spirit of the constitution if he tried to stand and would be condemned ..I feel confident that later on both parties will nominate others .I am noted as an optomist and this time I hope a realist

I think ,antonio, we will see a few potential candidates testing the water ,,,they seem to be unable to gauge opinion in any other way except in contrived polls .

These are the worst candidates!!!
First, no waay I'm voting for Hipolito, especially after his last term.
Second, no way we're voting for Amable... PRSC should have never and should never again be in power!
Third, yes Leonel is our best choice out of the three, but let's face it, he is a growing Balaguer... we don't need another one of those. The first one was enough... Leonel isn't that very good either.
Look at the city, it looks like shit. THere are sky scrappers EVERYWHERE! It seriously looks like shit.... the city should be divided by districts were in some places you build malls, some others houses, others for hotels, others for sky scrappers, etc, etc...

I SAY DON'T VOTE!! See if we make a difference!

I don't understand why so many are making such a big fuss because it's probably an unreliable orchestrated survey by one of the major political parties to get people talking about the previous representative. It's just something that's commonly used in politics, in order to get a feel for the candidates people truly like and dislike. The survey at this point in time usually helps the political parties plan out the next move for the candidate that will represent their best interests for the upcoming elections.

This is a risk BUT I live in the evidence and not propoganda. True, Hipllito is not the most elegant nor sophisticated. He is well educated and he is not stupid. When he was President there was more employment, more money in the streets, less viciosos wandering all over, menos delinquencia and the prices across the board were lower. The whole Figueroa Agosto scandal began during the 1st Presidency of Fernandez and thus far it is his tribe that is being connected to the scandal. It is impossible to believe that Fernandez is not somehow connected. Mejia makes a good point when he asks where did Fernandez get his millions from? Mejia comes from old money and that is a fact. Evidence is evidence. Who will win, I do not know. Who will run, I do not know. But Fernandez is a FARISEO. Mejia is not a Saint but he is closer to the average working Dominican and is not afraid to walk amongst us. True he is not eloquent but don't get fooled into believing he is stupid. Mejia is NOT a

Remember Fernandez pardoned the Lebron woman of the bank scandal. How much did she pay? Why did he pardon her? What about the DNCD connection to Fernandez? Live in the evidence!! Fernandez is a Fariseo, inculto and sin integridad.
