SANTO DOMINGO. - The controversial head of a major passenger transport association and deputy Juan Hubieres has been injured by gunfire to several parts of his body in the municipality Santo Domingo East (SDE), during a violent incident Saturday morning, local media report.
The unspecified injuries to the head of the notorious bus owners’ union FENATRANO occurred in a clash between Police agents and members of the association, who resisted an eviction from lands they squatted in the subdivision Brisas del Este.
There are reports of several people hurt by shotgun pellets, including FENATRANO members Eddy Matos Carmona and Ramon Familia.
The confrontation that began Thursday escalated when SDE City Council authorities were ready to evict the families of squatters who occupy the land.
Some reports affirm that Hubieres sustained thorax, left eye and head wounds, and rushed to the Clínica Integral I, on Sabana Larga Av., SDE.
Hubieres, together with the other transport business leaders Antonio Marte, Blas Peralta and Ramon Perez Figuereo are often referred to as "the country's owners" for the frequent violent strikes with apparent impunity.

I hope this SOB and agitator extraordinaire disappears from the face of the earth. He is probably making a storm inside a glass of water, and is pretending to be slightly injured probably, self inflicted.

One of the worst cases of attempted suicide. Let's hope that he is too far gone and that his wish is fulfilled.

Firstly , congratulations to the police who took the action and were not intimidated by the thugs whose members appear to be equally as lawless as Hubieres . It shoule be a priority of LF to get on top of these transport thugs who are not assisting the country by not permitting free competition and whose conduct on the road is pathetic and juvenile.

danny ..you seem not to understand that transport unions and gangs have tried their thuggery in many countries including the USA Italy Australia UK and many others .The ports and trucking industries are notorious world wide ,,,you need very strong laws and will to keep on top of them
From: United States, words of wisdom from the nutcracker
This union head was a big time trouble maker, there were many stories of his group of thugs who would attacked and killed bus drivers of competitors , seems he did have it coming to him . But still does change the fact the dominican employees worked under horrible conditions and very low pay . There needs to be more done for better working wages and better sanitary conditions.

These powerful interests often distort the true path of modernization in nations. They develop under the old style patronage system with all its inefficiencies and thuggish traditions. Beating up and even killing off competitors and keeping the industry within their hands is the prime objective. So dealing them and other like minded and constituted roadblock gang a kick in the rear end will do wonders for the overall positive trend in DR. But don't assume it will be easy riding; these criminal organizations have not arrived at their current powerful state without resources! Many are the people in their pay and if the government wants to keep them at bay, many other things need to be done to check these Unions.

Union thugs get what the reap. Unions are simply a way for the laziest person to make the same wage as the most productive. Look to Cuba a doctor and plumber make the same wage. Now would you rather have the best doctor in the country do brain surgery or the one that passed with a d average.

According to these fascist-MacArthyite posts one may easily guess that most of our counterparts are Dominicanyorks and their embittered ilk, along with their supporting cast of Anglo-Saxon social darwinists and various and sundry other functionally illiterate of the historic memory. In their upside down world, peoples who claim justice from a conservative-neocolonial regime, that has socially balkanized their homeland are the thugs, never mind that the U.S. embassy itself last year declared that the Dominican police had performed over 200 extra-judicial killings, as reported in their human rights report. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is what subliminal conversion to Anglo-Saxon social darwinism will do to you (if you let it that is), a permanent disconnect with your own nation, as a by-product for living too long in the Mainland. If Dominican networks like Teleradioamerica didn't broadcast via internet, there could be an excuse for this ignorance unfortunately the opposite is true
From: Dominican Republic
As a friendly suggestion to my Dominicanyork friends bombarded in their brains' neurons by the imperialist media oligopolies, that they must endure day and night in the Mainland (CNN, FOX News, etc., aka the globalist-imperialist propaganda matrix), there is a way to redeem your darkened and misinformed souls. Try Teleradioamerica.com, and tune in to their livestream at 11:00 A.M. monday-fridays for a starter to the new "Rebeldes" program, I also recommend a generous dosage of "El Jarabe de Zapete" at 3:00 P.M. also broadcast via Teleradioamerica.com Of course, the initial and therapeutic effect to your brainwashed neurons could be slightly shocking at first, in other words you might start learning the stark truth, about what the hell is really going on "on the ground", here in Quisqueya. :-)
