WASHIGTON DC. - Dominican ambassador to the U.S. Anibal de Castro Monday said he won’t tolerate unfounded criticism against his country, including those relating to illegal Haitian immigration and will be constantly on the lookout to deal with manipulations aimed at denoting his nation internationally, and asked the citizens to take part in the effort.

Speaking to mark the start of the traditional Dominican Week events including several to attract investments and improve the country-brand, the diplomat cited a campaign by nongovernment organizations and Dominican sectors to present the country as waging a policy of State which seeks to repeal the nationality of Dominicans of Haitian descent.

De Castro called United States-Dominican Republic relations satisfactory, without major difficulties thus far. "I’ve found in official Washington an atmosphere of cordiality, genuine compression of our reality and, what’s very important, and willingness for cooperation."

"But of course mutual respect is the base for all good diplomatic relations since diplomacy arose as such, under the understanding that the differences among democratic countries are natural," the Dominican Ambassador said.

The diplomat spoke in the presence of dozens of people who will take part in the annual activities slated for the U.S. capital and New York, who met early in the ambassador’s residence to formally inaugurate the event by hoisting the Dominican flag.

Well, it's about time the message got out and a more balanced picture presented to the outside world. For too many years DR has been the brunt of ill-balanced notions of terrible crimes against Haitians and yet few have troubled themselves to understand the complicated affairs that have driven the issue to its current stage of chaos.

Yes Bernard-Afro-Cantinflas, "unfounded and libelous criticism", like the ones you and all your other Haitian compatriots, are always dishing out, against a nation like the DR, that has always lent a helping hand to millions of Haitians, even though they illegally trespass our borders.

Vivacuba, USA, the worst criminals on earth. So let me see, we can cut off our foreign aid and investments in countries in Latin America and we would see how the dominoes would roll. Like it or not, policy in the Latin America basin is formulated by the U.S.. For all intents and purposes, DR is nothing but a lackey for US foreign policy. I am stating facts. This politico shooting off his mouth can be easily be replaced in a minute. He can say anything he wants when he is not taking our money. My grandparents were Dominican nationals but I am a US citizen first and foremost. My allegiance is to the country where I was born.

"Tourism business leaders list faults which mar the country’s image"

How about this criticism? Oh, I forgot, when it is SO obvious you do not say anything, other than "It is someone else's' fault"

Consider the amount of Aid DR receives from the US ( direct Aid, IMF loan provisions, foreign investments) reading the headline of this article would it be wrong to consider this guy as simply an arrogant beggar ?

THE US pushes IMF loans on most all nations in the world to enslave them. You cannot stop your handouts even if you tried. You also are a slave for paying all of these handouts that nobody wants. But hey, your government sends the fiat cash, we will accept it, of course.
