PALESTINIAN LEADER ARRIVES FRIDAY

Santo Domingo.- Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas will address the National Assembly Friday as part of his push for support of his nation’s admission into the United Nations, Senate president Reinaldo Pared announced Wednesday.

The ruling party Senator for the National District stressed the importance of the Palestinian leader’s unprecedented visit, for which the lawmakers will attend Abbas’ address slated for 2pm Friday.

The Palestinian leader arrives in Dominican Republic today Friday on invitation by president Leonel Fernandez, one of Latin America's most vocal leaders in the support of Palestinians’ right to Statehood in the last few years.

Once tainted by the left wing virus people are never cured..

Leonel's ideology is probably identical to Hugo Chavez's but he cannot be so candid as loco Hugo!!

Although I sympathize with the motion, I am also thinking of what is best for the DR at this particular political juncture, and being so public and vocal with the DR's support of Palestinians right to UN statehood, is NOT in our best interest at this time.
As usual President Fernandez is thinking about his own selfish ambitions, and could care less about what happens in the DR, after his departure from power.
The timing and public displays of support for Palestinian statehood, do nothing for the Dominican Republic cause.

Israel, Palestine and the United Nations

Yes to Palestinian statehood

Efforts to stop the Palestinians from winning statehood at the UN are misguided and self-defeating

"A more secure Israel amid the Arab spring

In truth, Israel will be safer when a proper Palestinian state has been consolidated. That is a point that too few Israelis and their American supporters appreciate. This newspaper has argued steadfastly for the right of Israel to exist. We abhor the creeping delegitimisation and demonisation of Israel. But we also believe that the Palestinians deserve a state of their own. These two beliefs are entirely compatible. By his intransigence Mr Netanyahu has played into the hands of those who would destroy Israel. In blocking any Palestinian aspirations at the UN, America is helping extremists on both sides."

I would certainly hope with the D.R.'s Roman Catholic presence it would not be supporting the Palestinians but standing firm with Israel according to what God has said "I will bless those who bless Israel and I will curse those who curse her,"

The Bible says Israel is God's chosen people. And everyone better be nice to them or be cast out to the depths of hell ! Wow!...... How about being nice to everyone? We need to set our biases aside and respect one-another's right to live in peace, regardless of race, lineage or social status.

It is horrific and tragic how religious differences have divided us all. Pity!

First Statehood than comes a miltary, Israel will never allow this to happen. How can you live knowing all your neighbors want to kill you! Think about it. if Mexico or Canada wanted to become a state and were not now and they wanted to kill all Americans well you get the picture!
