Santo Domingo.- The bill aimed at creating Dominican Republic’s first “zones of sexual tolerance” or red light districts again spurred heated debate among representatives of sexual workers and conservative groups present in the Chamber of Deputies’ public hearing Friday.
Members of the United Women’s Movement and the Transvestites, Transsexuals and Transgendered Community warned that the regulation of sexual work to specific zones or red light districts violates their rights and the sexual workers’ desire to surmount their condition of marginality.
“One prostitutes because we go though much need. Believe me it’s not easy to sleep with a man one doesn’t want, but when our children are passing hunger and there’s no work it’s not possible to do something else another thing,” said United Women representative Jacqueline Montero, who worked as a prostitute for 12 years until getting elected a councilwoman in the town of Haina.
Meanwhile the citizen Maria Carlos proposed that in any legislation which looks to regulate prostitution, sexual workers must be described with some other term, since that activity cannot be acknowledged as a job.

We already have a red light district it encompasses the National Palace the Senate and the House of Deputies.
There are more ladies of the evening of every sexual orientation per square in those three locations than in the entire national territory!

anyway i also give credit to most of these ladys, for years i thought about how hard it was for one to sleep in a bed with one person u just met.
not knowing what they have or who they really are, age and looks mean nothing at the end of this nightmare its a few bucks to buy food their babies. yet most dominican men look at them the ladys as low-lifes and not worth of any respect {many of these same people though go much lower if life as to sell the poison {drugs that kill people} or other crimes against all people all for the sake of of dollars they sell their souls. to the devil for this.

If those people had gone to school and learn a graduate degree or an occupation degree they would not to get into prostitution. This immoral activity is in plain sight and small kids are learning how this activity is being developed. I agree with "hellborn25" that other occupation exist but, they want to go the easy way and do what is illegal to do. Let's also create a red light district for our poor drug dealers because they did not go to school and they need to bring food to the table to support their poor family. Education, Education, and education is the solution of our problems.
We already have a red light district it encompasses the National Palace the Senate and the House of Deputies.
