Mañana...

Santo Domingo.- The Internal Taxes Agency announced that the deadline to renew vehicle plates for 2012 expires at 6pm Friday, and reiterated that there’ll be no extensions.

In that regard the Metropolitan Transit Authority had warned motorists that starting   12 midnight November 11, all traffic cops will seize the vehicles on the streets without the renewal label.

And just like previous years, long lines of people waiting to pay the renewal tax formed in the government and bank offices that sell the stickers.

Drive an unroadworthy death-trap like a suicidal drunk, breaking every road-rule and the police won't touch you - provided you've paid the tax!

Well the rich surely paid already, and the drug dealers. The poor must stay off the streets. Some think it is easy to pay for everything with a low income. Some in this country have to weight whether to pay for this tax or to get a meal for the kids. In a country where employees are paid pennies while the rich enjoys his money traveling how is it expected that the economy is going to have money in the streets.

martirio,
Maybe the "rich" can't afford to spend a day standing in a queue - they are too busy working to pay the taxes that the "poor" are exempt from. The guys in the photo don't look too undernourished to me. Good to see they are using the time to educate themselves by reading a book ... not one!
What does that tell you?
