Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic’s Foreign Relations Ministry affirmed Friday that they haven’t received any request for political asylum from ex Philippines president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, or from any other person.

In Manila, local media also report that the ex President’s spokespersons denied seeking political asylum in the Caribbean nation, in response to statements by the head of the Philippines Justice Department, Leila de Lima, that she has asked the Dominican Government to clarify the reports.

Macapagal-Arroyo spokesman Jesus Santos, quoted by Efe, denied to that has any request for asylum.

Philippine Justice has prohibited the former Head of State from traveling abroad, on charges of cheating in recent elections.

"In late October an informant said to two government officials that Dannenberg was in Manila to help Mrs. Arroyo in her plans to seek astlum", This Friday the Ex-President accused of corruption was given an award by Leonel when she visited Funglode.

"SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic-Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President of the Philippines accused of corruption and electoral fraud was honored by the Dominican President Leonel Fernandez, who also served as her host at his Global Foundation for democracy and development (FUNGLODE)."

"Macapagal-Arroyo was in Santo Domingo in the month of May, and President Fernández honored with the order of merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella in the grade of Grand Cross Gold Plaque."

Probably next week Lie-onel Fernandez will honor Jerry Sandusky from Penn. State, for his work with children!
