Santo Domingo.- The concern stated Monday by the Organization of American States’ (OAS) Secretary General on the incident in the Dominican-Haiti the border on Saturday which reportedly left one Haitian and one Dominican dead drew doubts among morning TV shows, given the extent of the official’s surprising position.

Jose Miguel Insulza said while the investigation continues, Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince should “proceed with moderation and table a significant dialogue to confront it and other issues regarding their common interests along the border.”

But Insulza’s unusual response to an incident that has now become all too common was questioned by Dominican Olympic Committee president Luis (Luisin) Mejia and other morning radio show hosts. “I don’t quite get this,” Mejia said in the program Hoy Mismo, Channel 9.

“We hail both governments’ initiatives to bolster the relations of friendship and the OAS remains willing to provide support where necessary and if the parties request it,” the OAS Secretary Genereal said in a statement from Washington.

I dont get it either?

DT writes an article to questioned the motives behind the reaction of OAS Jose Miguel Insulza but does not state exactly what is it about the incident that baffles them. What exacty is "odd" about their concerns over Haiti border incident ?

It would have been nice if they could have elaborated further.

We must create an army to control the savage dominicans.
They guys kill 4 haitians innocents because a dominican lost his life in an accident in haiti.
They haitians was willing to cross the border with their upons. But the haitian government ask all the haitians to stay calm because they haitians government demand to the government of rep DR to protect THE HAITIANS IN DR!
else a lot of haitians was willing to kill a lot of dominicans in the border. inspite the army dominican is in the border!

Insulza is a leftist SOB as proven by his reactions to Centrist governments in problems with leftists and his appeasement of pigs like Chavez and mass murderers like the Castro regime.

Of course Insulza will put pressure on DR it is par for the course but I predict massive violence if the Haitian problem is not solved .The REAL solution would be for the international community to take full control of Haiti, the repatriation of at least 95% of the Haitians illegally in DR. and assistance in protecting the border.

They are co responsible for every death that comes from this tension!

Pepe-You know quite well the int'l community uses the DR as a valve to help release pressure on Haiti. The last thing they will do is repatriate Haitians to their home lands.

I think Your government must protect all people who live in DR. If you want to become a great country, you must protect especially the haitians who give you one billions by year! else this money will going cut by two!

Haitiman ,take your "billions" and get the fluck out because for every dollar your people bring in is offset by the expenditures, the crime, the disease.the ignorance and the demographic threat your people pose to my country.

I would rather have a poorer ,cleaner, safer country so please keep your gourds .

Yeah listen here Kakaman Masisi we are going to get a special police force to protect all the illegal Haitians against violence. And if Haitians are not happy with the services provided, there is a special one way visa to CUBA where you will be well protected and under surveilance 24 hour a day. Yes Kakaman you and your goombah should visit CUBA and I am sure you will never leave.
